Default I really want anti lag!

I've been looking at upgrades for my car and a few of the ecu's that i've seen have anti lag. I know that it can damage the engine and the turbo but i wouldn't use it that often honest.

The other thing that a lot of the ecu's i've looked at can give launch control. ok so i'd need an uber strong gearbox but after watching the below vid, i'd some tempted to try and find the funding from somewhere for it

Looks and sounds flash but in reality there is no place for anti-lag or launch control on the road.

Its for competition use, and a complete waste of time/money for anythying otherwise.

A bit like buying gauges because they look pretty

Well the diff gaurd ***** another part of my car, ie the engine and turbo i'll remove it

Besides, theres always a good possibility i could have my diff hit the floor on hard launches

Either that or protect the diff for falling debris and parts from WRX's

Andy Forrest can switch the fuel control off on the newage ecu which gives an anti lag sound with out the damage, but its not switchable, its on all the time

Doesnt sound anything like antilag mate.

Its just switching the fuel duty cycle back on at a higher rpm in the fuel table.

It just promotes some overrun pops and bangs but not like antilag will.

It'll be as close to anti lag as you'll want to get for road use

People dont realise how loud anti lag really is and to use it on the road would break windows in towns and cause old people to crash there cars out of towns.

Do people who say they have anti lag, really have anti-lag, as I thought it involved air injection into the exhaust manifold which isn't just an ecu swap?

Antilag can be created one or two ways. Most using aftermarket ECUs use the ISCV to bypass air into the system when the throttle is shut.

The works cars inject air as this adds oxygen to an already fuel rich exhaust gas. On the introduction of oxygen it ignites instantly, resulting in the combustion in the uppipe and the spooling of the turbo.

Proper antilag has no useable place on the road correct.

Most people just want it for the sound. ???

Did you know, the Celica GT4 ST205 WRC has the full anti lag install as standard with he air injectors already fitted. Just Toyota didn't allow the option on the ECU.

Just thought you might like to know

Did Subaru ever do owt like that?

Mneame - anti lag is available on the Simteck ECU's that API and a few others do, but it is over £1150 supplied and fitted.

There MIGHT be another option available soon, will speak to the guy who is developing it soon and let you know. (Is a lot cheaper that £1150!!!)

Lol. I know a while ago it was something he was looking into, but dunno if anything will be coming of it.

I was originally going to go for an Apexi, but after chatting to Andy and seeing the results a few people are getting from the ESL packages i know which one i'm going for

gems will probably be one of the cheaper anti-lag capable units.

However, does anyone here really require the use of antilag?
