Evening All. Rather a dull one, but does anyone have a recommendation for a cover for a classic Impreza with a high level spoiler. I have looked on eBay and they seem to range from 49p to £9000.00. I don't know much about them but would like to keep the rain off my arches!! Any advice gratefully received.

The Halfords extra large cover for £65 will also do the job if you dont want to spend that much, though you’ll want some extra straps to stop it flapping in the wind.

 

Homebargains XL cover £12.99 got one here on another car and feels good quality.

The materials will be better on a more expensive one as well, but yes the cheap ones are ‘universal’ so you won’t get a tight fit like the tailored ones.

 

Does the XL fit with the rear wing on the blob ? or does it sit high showing the rear bumper ?

 

Do they rub the paint if the wind is blowing?

 

Again down to quality of the cover, higher cost cover will have wool/soft cloth underneath to prevent marks but yet they do rub in wind.. but you could add additional straps so help stop that..

Mine will be stored indoors so wind wont be an issue.. just checking if the halfords xl will fit with the rear wing without showing any of the body..

 

I have the Stormforce 4 layer off ebay for my wagon @ around £150, other sizes available. Exellent fit and easy to put on and off.

That sounds about passable on my budget, no point in spending money on something that isn't quite right or doesn't work well.

 

I have it on my Hawkeye at the moment. It does cover the rear bumper but only just. About a third of the rear wheels are showing, but I’m not too fussed about that.

A lot of the cheaper covers scratch your paint over time when they move around with the wind.

What did you opt for in the end?

 

It is a Voyager one that was £85 from Scoobyworld. It fits very well and did fine in the 70 mph winds we had in Cambridgeshire last week ( the security light next to it was on all night mind you!).

 

Question: what's the procedure when using?

Do you need to wash (and dry?) the car before fitting?

How long on average does a fit take?

 

Super easy to use, elasticated ends and two straps underneath with clips both sides to prevent scratches, they say put them on the ground and drive over the straps but I favour a bamboo stick! Takes 2 mins max to put on and off. Clean car means no grit rubbing on it when it moves and the car should (rather tediously) be dry before use, I guess that is the same with most covers. As I said, for the money it seems pretty good in all respects.

 

XL cover from Aldi...yep, Aldi..£9.99! Does the job fine. Covers my Blobeye even with the Prodrive Spoiler.had a clip going underneath to hold it in wind. Cleaned the car and covered it...honestly can't see it scratching it in the wind.
