Treated the car to a shinny new set of exhaust manifolds,it seems a shame to wrap them but I've got some DEI on the way, hopefully should arrive today so I can get them wrapped and ready to fit on Monday

Done a few bits regarding the engine swap. but still stuck on this idle control valve plug. Got a trusty friend looking into swapping over the 3pin plug for a 6pin. hopefully knuckle down this weekend change the struts and upgrade the brakes all round. change the diff over replace all fluids.

Try toothpaste or cutting paste, best toothpaste is the one with the crystals in. But you need to spray them with a light Lacquer after or they will just fade again.

I used water and really fine sandpaper to smooth the whole plastic front down first. Then cleaned with alchohol and let it dry. Then I lacquered them, not very well I might add, however at least it will last and not fade within a few weeks.

I've previously used meguiars headlight restore kit:

https://www.scoobynet.com/car-care-3...polishing.html

which is really good for dealing with oxidation and fine scratches. It's also great as the last stage in a sandpaper application.
However, I've yet to find anything that prevents yellowing. I think once the UV coating is gone you're going to have to replace them or accept the fact you need to refresh them once a year.

This is what I used on my old Golf GTI. Everyone on the Mk5golfgti forum raved about it and was very good.

Nice ill keep this in mind for future. Was wondering why I struggled so much with the lacquer coating. Had a look on the Halfords website and a lot of others stated that they struggled with the bog standard one as it has a poor nozzle, explains a few things, great big blobs coming out instead of a fine mist that's needed, should of got the body shop lacquer instead

Replaced my cabin filter, first time I have changed it and it appears to have been well overdue... For something that takes 5 minutes to do I will be checking this more regularly now.

I honestly thought the Subaru air system was either rubbish, or mine was broken until I changed the filter & fished this receipt which was in the round fan itself causing mass vibration. It's actually fine now and the air con is really nice and cold with good airflow though the whole cabin.

Old air filter.
Receipt I found in the fan itself causing vibration and rattling.

I did my nephews Astra straight after and it wasn't much better, although it was much harder to change. Luckily Subaru have made this a nice simple job for us.

Manifold wrapped, forgot how enjoyable this was! Fecking cat didn't help she thought it was a new game 'chase the heatwrap'
Happy with the result tho, much better than my 1st attempt

Even more fun removing and fitting!
Got everything back on now apart from the downpipe which I'm going to wrap, had enough for today so a walk down to the local for a couple of pint

Yup always use stands,Jack was there to lift the engine, dam up pipe would not come out from the underneath without jacking the engine, don't think you have to do this with a single scroll?

Lol i nearly said who's Jack

A few of us helped my mate remove his down pipe and turbo,
had to remove from top of engine, online guides said about removing one side of the the exhaust manifold to get the up pipe out. So i don't think you do have to jack up engine.

Mate used jack from his boot to jack car up, while underneath, jack slipped, but believe he was out at time

Purchased a spare pair of fog covers in silver for my FSTI a few weeks back so I had another set to play around with and make some custom air ducts. These things are quite rare so I snapped them both up.

Over the last week I've prepared and repainted the new covers in WRB and had a full set of custom STI stickers made for the car in a colour that compliments the wheels.

Fitted the new fog covers this morning.
