This is my first post in this section so please be kind. After years of dreaming of owning a Subaru I can finally say I'm the proud owner an sti type RA. Exactly what I wanted and after a longer than expectedly drive to and from London I finally got her home yesterday evening. Current plan is to keep it nice and standard and look after it for a while. I'll try and post some better pictures tomorrow. There's a few little cosmetic bits to sort but generally looks a clean example and drives well.
Ordered a few bits from Alyn at AS performance for a decent service. Lovely bloke and arrived next day!
Cam belt kit (it's done 85,000 km but nearly 20 years old), spark plugs, oil filter, engine oil and air filter. Also thinking of doing the water pump at the same time too.
The worst advice ever, you will remove then want it again then have to pay like 60 pound for a OE sticker from icp or sprinting hare, yes they sell for like 50-60 quid, I love the wrx sticker, reminds me of gran turismo 1, just doesn't look straight, nice car though bud, where are your side skirts btw?

Why would you remove the sticker? It's oem
RA shouldn't have sideskirts, bumper spats, painted mirrors/door handles or rear spoiler. Optional extras.
Inclined to say that car's had a rear end bump at some point in it's life, unfortunately.
fair enough looks nice though even without, what's the light in the middle of the clocks for that go up horizontal? I thought that was for automatic ones only? To like tell you if your in manual drive reverse etc ? Sorry to spam your thread btw I'm too a v3 owner, I want that style gear gaitor too
I also agree about the OEM sticker. I also echo the sentiment about it in GT.
When I first acquired my STi 5, the previous (original Jap-based) owner had removed it. It was one of the first 'mods' I ever did. Got a genuine, correct one for my model, from RCM.

They're the RA's DCCD diff's indicator lights.

Indeed I meant vertical, yeah I love the wrx stickers
Thank you for the kind comments. I got the car back this afternoon after dropping it to my local mechanic (Neil Read at Read Performance in New Milton) for basic service and inspection - this consisted of
- Cam belt
- Oil and filter
- air filter
- and spark plugs
After talking with Alyn @ asperformance I decided on leaving the water pump as was told it wasn't necessary due to design and make up of the item. Always nice to speak to Alyn as nice and very knowledgeable. All round top bloke.
Also, to answer a question I can imagine this car has had some sort of bump and probably a number in its life but considering the performance and age of the car but it is nearly 20 years old now so this for me is expected. It drives straight and true, boosts nice and strong and has all the right sounds so for me is perfect.
I'm currently very much enjoying ownership and excited every time I get behind the wheel. Currently a bit of a handful with the mud and snow tyres on and my dad has an old set of speedlines that have been primed and ready for some paint so may put some summer tyres on those next year (if we get any sun that is).
Quick question, has any other RA owners noticed that their car doesn't particularly understeer but loves kicking the back end out (with the diff in auto not even locked). Just curious is all.
Hope you enjoy the update and I'll try and get some decent pictures etc up over this weekend.
Cheers Tom

Thrilled with the result.. I must confess it's the first time I've had decent tyres on any car and replaced all 4 at once. Going on shift soon so will get plenty of time off to actually be able to start doing a little work on the car. Drives lovely etc but the body does need some attention and a really good clean.
yeah I always wanted them for my future scooby when growing up.. now they are! Thought they were lovely when he imported his.. even better they're genuine too!
Nice car. I drive a 377 brake V2 sti RA, on good tyres I'm dammed if I can get the back to step out without serious abuse. The advans should improve grip no end. Those speedlines with period black and red centres look the nuts but I'm biased. The centre caps are now discontinued, don't lose them

The wheels in my photos are for sale if anyones interested
