It's friggin epic. Just the lighting and ochre/gold accents alone are worth watching it for.

The cliched responses so far confirm my thoughts. I suspect it will become the new Lost.

I put off watching Game of Thrones for years as I presumed it was Downton Abbey with swords, I was wrong.

All seasons bar season 5 were damn good!

Show has some great characters like Tyrion who is funny as hell and some characters like Joff and Ramsay who are complete kunts and you pray will die in some horrendous manner!

If you do not watch it, then it is your loss. It is Lord or the Rings crossed with The Sopranos

Sadly though, Daenerys' storyline is dull as ditchwater. She may turn out to be one of the story's bigger villains but this is only a theory at the moment.

To be very unkind to it, any scene without Peter Dinklage in it (The dwarf) is just a filler between Peter Dinklage scenes.

Having said that, with any long running series it has it's ups and downs but overall it is very good TV.

The current season is great because, I suspect, it's a season or two close to finishing and they've realised they need to move everyone's story forward to actually get to the end.

As an alternative, I'd suggest Vikings - although even that has had a poor 4th season compared to the others.

GOT passed me by for years too

in fact I though it was a video game for ages

the mention of "Lost" is an interesting one

I did not watch any of it - people where raving about it constantly

then it seemed that same people got pissed of with it - as it dragged on with ever increasingly implausible plot lines

almost as if the shows producers saw it as a cynical way to keep the cash cow going !!!

I predicted it would all end "in a dream"

TBH I felt the same way about The Walking Dead, pretty good - then just got fvcking annoying and I stopped watching it

that said I did watch GOT (up to last season) and though it was very good, still not up there with the Sopranos but not bad

Good god Ramsay is pure TV gold. Can't wait to see who runs him through.

I bought The Sopranos box set recently and that will keep me busy for a few weeks! Not something you would want your mum to watch. Mafia stuff basically violence, killing, corruption, sex and money with a great script. The language is unbelievable.

Never started Thrones - is it on Netflix?

Nope. I hear that you can get it on Sky as a box set, though.

I haven't watched it, either. I hear that it's very good.

Sounds like GOT

Must admit, didn't watch it when it started as too much other stuff on.

However was persuaded to look at it a week or so ago and have just completed season 3 - compulsive viewing

I don't think people realise how graphic/obscene GOT is before watching it, it's brutal.

Not your run of the mill Sword and Sandal drama.

If it's just about sex and gory violence then I'll give it a miss. I like stuff like House of Cards, Homeland and Breaking Bad. I haven't found one programmes since, which could compete with them.

Did watch Bates Motel. It was alright.

...and language

TBH the plot is quite expansive but I mostly like it for the lighting, scenery and sets.

It's much more than that, but it just illustrates, graphically, what an essentially medieval world with no morals would be like.
