Question What colour is my classic?

10 points for the first person to say "Red", just to get that out of the way.

I want to know if anyone knows the paint code or where to find it on the car or paperwork. It's a '96 Jap import WRX STi if that helps (or hinders)

I gave her the first real clean the other day and have found a few scuffs I wouldn't mind getting sorted at some point.

Thanks in advance!

Sweet, thanks. I always ask these questions when I'm nowhere near my car and the answers seem so obvious, lol.

Will it be obvious? Is it in a particular format? Just I'm guessing instead of "Paint code" it will have something in Japanese that will mean nothing to me, lol

Also, while I'm at it, what's the paint code for the wheels?

I'm guessing there's a standard gold applied to all of them that probably hasn't changed over the years.

I'll guess Vivienne Red 936 but vin plate will confirm.
There are some recent threads on the wheel colour if you have a quick search on here

Nice looking wagon by the way

Nice one, I'll check. Having something to check against is useful

Will do ta.

Thanks, I'm pleased with it

Ooh ooh, another question unrelated (I'm on a roll, lol)

What should boost be standard? Mine has come with a manual boost controller and the dealer wound her right down to about 5/6psi. I don't want to crank it up to the max and blow the engine up but wouldn't mind getting it back to standard.

6psi is low! Mbc's are not good either.
Should be around 1bar/14psi For an STI

I thought it would be somewhere around that mark.

In what way are they not good?

People sometimes fit them to mask other problems. If people want to add more boost then other parts of the map have to be adjusted like air/fuel ratio and ignition timing. A mbc might give more boost but all it's doing is bleeding off the air to keep the wastegate closed longer and will ultimately lead to engine failure. I don't think you will find many if any people on here saying they are a good thing to fit. Personally I would remove it and pipe it back up to stock then see if your getting the correct 14-15psi

Makes good logical sense to me. Before I plumb it back to standard do you think it would be ok to adjust it back to a bar, just in case it is masking problems. At least then I could easily turn it back down until I've resolved any issues.

I'd love to be able to get it into Track 'n' Road/Race Engine Calibration for a bit of a shakedown but their dyno is only 2 wheel

Turning it up to 1bar might not show the problem if there is one? Some people just fit them as its a very easy way of adding more boost, just not a safe way to do it. If yours is the v2 which I think it is then if the map sensor is stock then it will fuel cut at 1.2bar anyway as far as I know. Maybe someone fitted it because the boost solenoid is faulty or a missing restrictor pill?? I'm really no expert so before you turn it up I would post a thread asking advice because there are some top people on here who really know their stuff mate.
