I haven't defended Sharia Law, I was simply stating that Sharia Law isn't all about executing people. Let me make it clear for you though to avoid you once again deliberately misconstruing my words, I'm against capital punishment in any form, I am completely appalled by the way Sharia Law is interpreted by some regimes. Clear enough?
It's certainly easy to focus on the corperal punishments of amputation for theft, stoning for adultery (which includes sex outside of marriage), and a selection of death types for apostasy. But these Dark Age practices, savage as they are, aren't my primary objection to Shar'ia Law. No, my repulsion comes from knowing that the legitmacy and authority for this law is 'supernatural'. The word of the archangel Gabriel to the prophet Muhammad obeying the word of Allah. Now, whilst I wasn't there, I'd stake my life and the lives of my loved ones that the Quar'an, like the Bible and The Torah, was in fact cobbled together by either deluded or mercenary desert people. I mean come on, how did they get away with this horsesh1t?
So here's the rub; I and other descendents of the Enlightenment advocate and defend written law that's emerged from sound human reasoning whilst Islam and its 1.5 billion adherents back a 1400 year old sky-fairy hoax.
