Default What is this security device?

My car ('05 STi UK) has a mechanical gearbox locking device on it but i don't have the key. there's a hole in the transmission tunnel on the drivers side and a grey 7" slim metal pole goes into the hole to lock up the gearbox and a key goes into the end to take it out again...the pole looks like a small maglite torch.

any idea who makes this device cos i would like to contact them and see if i can get a key for it? thanks.

I think CDF racing made something like that once. But without a definite source, you'd be better off taking the lock to a locksmith to get a key made up.

I can't tell what type of key it takes as picture is out of focus, but any locksmith would be able to sort it, just take it to them. Even if you find the manufacturer chances of them getting a key wouldn't be brilliant.

Yes thats a Dipol gearbox lock, got one in my Blobeye. Some Subaru dealers seem to have them listed the part no for the whole kit is SACC3394. When I bought my car I had the bolt but no key the same as you, I ended up having to buy the complete kit just to get a new bolt and matching key.

Very good system though, hard for a thief to attack as all the major parts are under the car.

Have you tried contacting the previous owner, they may still have it.

The Dipol is a superb bit of kit, well worth getting hold of the key if you can. I doubt very much is a locksmith could make one.

Walldonway show a SACC3393 in stock, but I don't know if it's the correct one.

Be careful as a Diplock for the classic shape is a completely different device.

I still believe a locksmith could sort it. Its what they do. The fact that the lock is out and accessible will make it a lot easier. Give it a try, you've got noting to lose.

Sorry, just realised that you have the pin but not the key, would agree with JT that a key could probably be made.

I've just checked my key and it looks like it's made by GERDA perhaps they may be able to help?
