I have an MYO3 STi8. It's about 6 months old. About 2 months ago the battery went flat after I "forgot" to use it for 4 days - as a result the remote locking wasn't even working. Subaru Assistance turned up and recharged the battery. All was fine for 2 months (using the car most days).

Yesterday (after not using the car since Tuesday - 4 days) the battery flat again. At least this time I could use the remote central locking etc but not enough to start the engine.

SA to the rescue again. The bloke from SA said that he had seen this a few times on imprezas and other cars(merc, BMW, Jag etc) with trackers, and that trakcrs were "heavy" on the battery (battery easily drained in 7 days he said)

This time I've booked the car into the car for them to have a look

3 things could be wrong :-
1) duff battery from the beginning which had gradually got worse and worse
2) alternator not charging the battery enough
3) something is draining the battery(while the car is not being used) - fits in with the SA mechanics theory

Any body else experienced this or have any thought on it.

thanks
Paul

A Tracker will not flaten your battery as it pulls less amps than a LED
Try testing the draw on the battery with a volt meter

Doc.

If the trackers battery back up unit has failed this can cause a drain on the vehicle's battery enough to flatten it over a period of time

? Dave the battery is only connected to the charging curcit when the cars power supply goes over 14 volts
(I think this only applys to TRACKERS and not other makes)

Was'nt meaning to contradict what you where saying Rich just giving another possible cause to his problem. Was'nt assuming it was a genuine TRACKER, just a tracking device with battery back up. Cheers dave.
