Default Hi all, Newbie from moray

Hi all,

My names Jamie or Fletty as everyone calls me.

Just bought my first scooby. Ive had my fair share of fast cars over the years, RS fords, Audi S3, Clio V6, Few evos, M3's. I've had a bit of everything so thought i would give a scooby a try.

Got myself a 2008 WRX STI TYPE UK
1 Previous owner with 35k & full S.H. It was in excellent condition, totally standard & well looked after.

Guy I got it from kept it garaged most of its life & has hardly been used in last couple years.

So anyway, done about & 100 miles in it. Had a bit of a play in it but nothing serious. Good fun to drive.

Started it up last week & hear a tapping/knocking sound.

Had a similar issue with a previous Evo which turned out to be tappets, but to be cautious i called a local Subaru specialist & he explained about bottom end bearings being a problem.

I had car transported to him and turns out bearings are shot & looks like & engine build is on the cards.

After discussing various options & that i would like a bit more power in the car, He is going to strip & rebuild engine with uprated & forged internals.

Hopefully after this is all done and engine run in will be looking for some more power.

So here goes to start of an expensive but hopefully fun outcome & the end. Hopefully get some information of what tuning parts to go for & help along the way.

Thanks,
Fletty
