reliabilty
cost
drivabilty
power delivery
performance

Iv read the thread on mlr there more to the evo as people on here are going to be more to the subaru...
But your asking in comparison I have a 350bhp wrx 03 blobeye
Friend has a evo 9 fq340 and mine wipes the floor with it , but a lot cheaper to tune the evo! And looks wise some blobs look nice some 9s look nice 50/50 on that

it was said the evo was more of a drivers car but with the electronics ? i would think its less of a drivers car as the electronics would take the drivers involvement out /? not sure if this opinion of mines is fact or fiction true or flase

When i bought my STI, I did my homework on both cars.
The main things that sold me on the subaru was the more reasonable servicing costs (its the cheapest car i've had to look after), Evo's seems a bit more highly strung and almost fragile ( I have 2 mates with them and they've had a few nasty bills) and lastly, the noise of a UK impreza.
I genuinely went into this with no bias toward either, and im loving my impreza.

service cost are the same
oil
plugs
gear oil
diff / ayc oil
filters
same on both cars and as for the 4.5k intervals
oil and filter on any turbo car at least every 5k in my eyes
like i say iv had a wrx, sti's , type r's , p1, wr1
also Evo 6,7,8,9
the evo's feel a better drive than the newage and the classic feels a bit raw
the subarus sound better and the evo's give you confidence
so to sum it up i love both end of lol

Lol at the guy saying the EVO is more of a drivers car
Cost wise, it's well documented that the EVO costs considerably more to run and buy so the scoob wins in the over all costings as a 400 bhp car.
As for reliability, I think they both have their various issues so that's 6 and 2x3, but as long as you chose the right mapper and get some gauges to keep an eye on things the 2.0L engine is pretty reliable and the 6 speed box is very strong.
I'd go for 450bhp on the scoob as cost wise there is bugger all in it, SC46 as opposed to SC42.
The main difference for me is the sound, EVO sound does nothing for me, neither will win any beauty competitions, oh and you need to be able to drive to own a scoob.
If you want a car that will be better out of the box for the same money as the Evo i'd suggest a JDM STI or even better a Spec C, which are more comparable to the EVO than the UK STI.

He concluded that the Evo was the "better" car, but when he walked up to the cars to drive one home, he chose the Scooby!!!!!!!! (everytime)

Scooby has a bigger fuel tank...
Evo delivers it's torque in a much more useable manner.
dunx
P.S. My pal has a >400 bhp Evo VI and we can't separate the two.

I had a GTR R34... couldn't take it anywhere, pointless cars..... too low, too long, 12mpg... expensive to fix, no one knows much about them (up north)
Prefer the smaller Scoob/Evo, had both... prefer the scoob... more manageable day to day.
The insurance is half that of the evo..... (and i'm 40!)

I recently had 10K to spend and test drove loads of Scooby's and Evo's during my adventures to find my next car. Truth be told the Evo felt slightly quicker in the real world but I just could'nt ignore the awesome sound that the Scooby made in comparison. Everytime I got behind the steering wheel and went for a test drive it made the hairs on my arms stand up. I was really thrown between the Evo's performance and the Scooby's thrills.. I then came across an advert for a mint GB270 Wagon and I was sold.. No Evo mattered after that..
