yup it will be fine, require a new turbo and injectors and a few other bits, newage sti cars are good for about 450, some people are way over that with no problems.

Yes... JDM uses equal length (awesome!) headers.

UK would need:
Panel filter
Appropriate turbo
Remap
Decat / Sports catted system
Injectors - or standard pinks will get you just shy of this figure
Standard TMIC will just suffice at this level
You may need to get the oem cast headers / up-pipe ported.... not too up on the UK set-ups and what is achievable.

I think you'd struggle to get 400ftlb on a UK 2ltr, assuming you look at using a 400bhp turbo.

i may look at jdm versions not sure how insurance will be like tho i hear they harder or more to insure .. so basically ill need better turbo to get the torques up?

A JDM should be no harder to insure than a UK car.... you just need to know the right brokers to use. Keith Michaels on here is well recommended (see their detail in the Insurance Section). That's who I and many others use.

As far as I know the JDM engines are "just better" with better heads and valvetrain. You also have the "better" twinscroll headers. All this provides a better base for greater torque.

UK engines rev to 7k whereas the JDM's rev past 8k.

I doubt you'll hit 400bhp on pinks with OEM fuel reg set-up.

Ive been quoted around the £6k mark for upgrades for my 2005 sti to reach 380BHP, by Roger Clark Motorsport, I guess you could achieve bigger figures for less money but i believe you get what you pay for.Nice to know peoples thoughts though as the thoughts crossed my mind to sell mine and go for a spec c, theres not a lot about though!!!

Depends if you do your own spannering, where you take it, new or used parts etc etc.

I'm going to buy used parts as I always have, fit them myself then get it mapped by a reputable mapper, I would hope to achieve 380 for around 1200 at the most.

i was going to get new parts and try to get 400 bhp but surely it cant be 6 k to reach that .... i was thinking more like 3k-3.5 just engine remap and mod excludeing brake pads nd disc etc which ill have to get done any way but was just interested on how to reach 400bhp and the cost

Best thing to do would be make a shopping list then price all the bits you want, then get a price for fitting and mapping, or ring somewhere with a good rep and get a package price off them, there always seem to be a known specialist not too far away from most parts of uk.

If you're not doing the work yourself I would find out who can be trusted with your car within a distance you're willing to travel and give them a shout.
