Quick question: running in a new engine
10 years ago when I bought my first and only scoob (2002 bugeye STi) I had to run the engine in for the first 1,000 kilometres. I seem to remember I wasn't supposed to exceed 4000 rpm.
Does anyone know if this is still the case for 2011/2012 STi's? Or has engine technology moved on sufficiently that this is no longer required?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Simon Yeah it's been a while since I was in this corner of the interweb! It's still the place to go for answers...If you had to run in your WRX then it's almost certain to be the same for the new ones.
@Chopperman, you could be right and maybe I did 1500kms or so before the first service. I'll look in the log book later.
Cheers!

Built my new engine and run it in on a dyno at WG pressure for 50-100 miles, dropped the oil, changed filter, and then threw some boost through it to bed the rings in.
Been fine so far running at 500+
