Interesting, as they always seems to be someone selling SSQV very very cheap.

I do wonder if they are really genuine now?

The thing that has annoyed me about these super super cheap SSQV is that I paid well over £200 for mine, and would think selling it for £150 would be a bargain as it's had very little use. But the problem is with these cheap ones selling, no one is willing to pay the good money, and so therefore I haven't bothered selling mine!

Best advice is not to buy one at all and save money, anything that let's air out of a closed system with maf is going to cause overfueling the maf tells the ecu how much air is in and with other sensors it calculates the fuel required

Oh god,dont start !!!

I have one, genuine HKS, i have it for 2 reasons

1. Am a believer in the excess boost that gets vented is not harming my turbo (causing it to stall etc)

2. i like the sound

Had the car 6 yrs now, with it on all that time,if i pay 1 or 2 mpg for the privilege,so beit

Although i do have a turbosmart Megasonic in the shed to swap it for,if i can be bothered LOL

There was a thread on here not so long ago about this issue and it included detailed pictures (from HKS) of both the unit itself and the packaging and how to spot a fake - but I am too lazy to try and find it

Yeah, they can sell them for £90 when they retail at £245.

THIS is how people on here sell 'genuine' SSQV for that price.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/32..._SSQV_III.html

If anybody is gullible enough to think they are getting the real deal, they deserve their engine to blow up.

So, having seen the pictures of genuine vs fake on the Sumo Power link, can someone who has bought one off here confirm whether it is real? It would give confidence to future buyers OR help people steer clear of fakes.

Think about it for a moment, how can someone sell a product that retails at £245 for £90 and still make a profit? Unless they have access to a truckload of stolen ones, they can't.

I was really swinging towards the second option, 'steer clear of fakes'! I'd just be interested to see if anyone that bought one cheap on her comes on to confirm or deny.

I bought a "genuine" cheap one out of curiosity that is still in the box, but haven't had time to take it apart yet. Will take some pics when I get home.

Very True. IMO they should be banned from scoobynet for selling fake items.

If this tells us anything it's how over priced the genuine ones are! £269+vat.. sheesh.

The article is slightly over the top though, catastrophic engine faliure! (slight boost leak)

Granted they're just trying to protect their business but the way I see it the sales of genuine ones probably won't be effected much. Anyone with half a brain knows the cheap ones are fake, the people that are buying them are the sort that would not be spending £300 on a dump valve anyway IYSWIM. It's probably more a toss up between a bailey or fake ssqv for your average fake ssqv buyer.

It's like anything on ebay, trainers, clothes, toys etc etc. It's flooded with fake gear.

The HKS website said that its got to the stage now where you cant even trust the holograms though - they said they have seen fakes which are actually impossible to tell from the exterior, only by them examining the internals to know that they arent the correct gubbins!
They have a page on their site listing all the places where they supply genuine SSQVs to, and basically said if you buy it from any other company then it wont be the real thing.
Id only buy one second hand if the seller had the original invoice.

Totally agree.

Thought we may have had some sort of rebuttal from one of the sellers.
Perhaps not.

True m8 but when scoobynet members are selling them as genuine items theyre expecting to get the real deal as theyre trusting seller. To be honest i prefer buying second hand genuine items theres so much fake now it is getting harder to tell.

Does anyone have pics of the internals of a genuine one? I took mine apart yesterday but no reason to post the pics without pics to compare them to.
