Default How to tell if my car has been chipped/remapped?

Had my 03 Scooby a few years now and the previous owner has done a few things to it, sports exhaust, decat, short shift gearshift, 18" wheels. However, it really does go like stink. My car before was an Elise S1 which is also no slouch but my Scooby is like a rocket.

Is there anyway to tell if its been chipped or remapped easily or is a rolling road the only option?

HAHAHA ah ok. Subaru (Bell and Colvil) told me that in the whole exhaust system on the car has four cat convertors and one had been removed. Plus the previous owner fitted a non standard rear box

can you not tell by fitting a boost gauge and seeing what boost it is producing ? would of thought if it was mapped it would be producing more boost than standerd!!!

If a travelling mapper was passing he could have a look at the map and see if it's been altered or has an EcuTeK licence........

You want to see if your uppipe has been decatted assuming its a wrx if it hasn't theres a good chance its not mapped.

Yes its a WRX and I am sure Subaru said it was the downpipe. I could be wrong though or they could be

Lots of people mapped their cars with the up-pipe pre cat in place as it's not a big restricton and the TD04 doesn't flow enough hot air to damage it or the EGT sensor

The only sure way is to look at the ECU map

I think dnc and me were typing at the same time LOL

Shaun

PS You could also take it to a Subaru dealer and ask them to look at the the ECU with their Select Monitor as I have a sneaking suspicion that the DENSO ECU has a "counter" which records how many times it has been altered. Rob84 on here is a Subaru Tech and I'm sure he could advise
