Question Hard launch.

Should you momentarily bang it off the limiter before up-shifting to 2nd? What do you think?

Change before the limiter. Banging it off the limiter slows you down.

what if your wheel spinning and struggling for traction at the launch ? bang it into second or wait that split second for some grip ?

Then you need some proper tyres

Could be 'cos I have a very light clutch in the Skyline and a lightened fly wheel, but the box does seem more stiff in the Scoob and even though the throw is shorter I feel like I can chuck the Skyline into 2nd a lot faster?

I thought maybe just hitting the limiter for a fraction of a second might help reduce lag or something? At the very least is should ensure you squeeze all the torques out of the ratio rather than changing say 200 or 300 RPM 'too low'.

Hitting the limiter will always slow you down as you will be off boost

Is it just the launch or throughtout the rev range in 1st?

I've been told in a powerful turbo car that you might not be able to get onto boost in 1st due to traction so you should get it into 2nd way before you hit the limiter?

Mostly on a proper launch but does sometimes scrabble for grip if booted in the lower gears, i get 430ft lbs at 3500rpm and peak torque of 460 1000rpm later, first gear is just a blink with launch control

AVCR Scramble boost ? Reaction times would suggest you will hit the rev limiter anyway LOL

Ive had my scoob for less than a year and havent launched as I dont think my driving is good enough, but I am wondering if its possible to move off in second at high revs? Would this negate the need for a gear change and would it help launch the car easier?

Hitting the rev limiter means the car has had its power cut to protect the engine so it will slow you down. Gear changes should be made just as you hit peak power and varies from engine to engine......

No, but it would wear your clutch out quickly

I would change gear before you hit the limiter. P1 Drifter, 1st i would try some better tyres and see how you go. R888,s for instance.
