mpg mission
Hi All
I have been fairly satisfied with the return that my wrx has returned for the last year and a bit. It is a 2003 plate with a cat back exhaust and 2nd cat replaced.
I have never had less than 24 mpg but never hit 30 mpg either. The driving i do to work is mixed 12 miles there and 12 back with about 7 miles of it is motorway. My days of i potter about mostly 30 mph zones. So lots of short journeys.
So I have come to the conclusion stick to 60 mph on the motorway and NO more than 65 mph. When accelerating keep it under 3,000 revs. Generally drive like an old biddy
I have got to 1/2 tank mark and achieved 200 miles! which is a record and now on a fraction above a quarter at 250 miles.
I will be filling her in a couple of days and hope to see a record mpg from it. I know it is a bit sad but hey next tank im going to give it a few blasts again as the turbo hasn't spooled much this week lol.

Do a "top gear" move and tape up the bonnet gaps and fold the mirrors in! You might get even more!!
My best was 295 on a full tank of optimax till the light came on.

Got a vf35 sitting at work, but don't want to fit it due to fear of massive lag! Very tempted just to fit an Andy Forrest hybrid and ported td-04!

WRX 04 Wagon back in 2008 on a weeks trip around Dorset... I got 29mpg. I never managed to get above the low 20's with general driving.
The WRX has now gone and I drive a 07 Corsa CDTi for the daily commute. Managed 63mpg this week. That's 466 miles off £40.
Good job I've got a classic in the garage when I feel like a bit of cr*p mpg

In town driving i get 21 mpg, but a blast to Silverstone on the motorway then a slow crawl back home gave me 25mpg - best i've got so far.
However, i know this chap who took an economical driving course for his work and simply going from 3rd to 5th in 40 zone could save a couple thousand gear changes a year.
but i get bored doing that though

I've been monitoring the MPG on my STi ppp. So far my best has been 22.7mpg and worst has been about 18.2mpg, calculated after each refil of the tank. I rarely get over 230-240 miles max from a tank.
You WRX boys have it good at the pumps!
