Angry Car damaged by leaking asbostos roof!!!!!!!

Well I could cry, my baby has been damaged so bad it could be written off, garage has leaked for a long long time, I rent it from the local council at the cost of £80 per month, Due to heavy rain and snow the asbostos has leaked and dripped all over my car damaging my beautiful shiny paint work, Today a guy from the council came out and told me to claim off my insurance then my insurance company can claim off them, my insurance company have given the go ahead over the phone for Craig my son to do an estimate and send it to them, (He has his own bodyshop as you know) I am so upset I could cry, it broke my heart to see my car in such a mess, A new roof is being fitted to my garage on the 23rd March, Will keep you posted.
Cheers
Colin

Sorry to hear that, hate it when a person's pride and joy gets damaged, especially by the bloody council

Surly if you are renting the garage it has to be fit for the purpose intended (which it clearly is not) so you can get compensation from them... If you go through your insurance you will loose any ncb you have while it is going through and you will have to pay the excess as well as the have no car problem....

Hi Tom, the water hass pouered through the roof bringing pieces of the asbostos on to the car and where it was wet it has seaped into the paint work caussing great big white marks on the roof and where oit has run down the side of the car it has done the same to the rear quarter panel.

Sounds nasty.

But surely the car would just need a blow over to repair the damaged paint work?

If thats so, would that write the car off, with a blow over being approx £1500 these days (bodyshop dependant).

On a different note, my mate rented a council garage, half of it fell onto his car in high winds, and the Council coughed up for all repairs.

The thing is, I love my Scooby to bits and I am hearet broken, I have had it 10 years, in that time the car has only covered 3000 miles a year, She is my toy and I am hoping my son can work his magic on it, he has a bodyshop with full working oven, If it is repaired I may sell it but I can gareentee the paint job will be done 100% properly, she has just flown through the M.O.T. only last week and I have just taxed it.

Personally, I'd worry about the asbestos as well! Do you know how dangerous that stuff is?

Agree with the above, your son is also going to have to factor in the cost of cleaning of the car in a safe manner to get rid of the asbestos iaw local regulations.

Why, its bonded asbestos in roofs, cant see how it would have gotten out of its concrete myself?

Take it to a car wash and polish the water marks out.

There are thousands of garage roofs and drains that are made of it.

172, tried that yesterday mate, looks like someone has thrown a tin of white paint down the side, onto the roof and onto and under my Prodrive spoiler.

on the front lip of my roof, there are staligmites (spelling) of this white powder, and if you touch them they just turn to dust.

i have had the garage for a year + now, and this is the 1st time it has ever theen this bad, over the last couple of weeks. before this i use to just get white water marks on the roof ledge.

hope it gets all sorted soon m8
