Default None scooby question advice on Flooded car

Ok dad was in Derwent water in the lakes last week and 15 cars in the hotel he was at got flooded, IE upto and covering seats but not enough to go over gearbox area.

So they pushed em all out and once out of the water all started perfect.

Now obviously electrics had taken a hit, windows didnt work, Airbag lights on alarm on all the time whilst driving home but other than that good.

Insurance reakon they will write it off.

Its an 06 A4 sline 2.0 TDI my old comp car, only got 34k on it and mint,

So insurance have also offered him it at 27% of what they give him, so say 10k he gets 7.5k and keeps car.

Has anybdy done this before, would it be hard to sell on ebay for 5k ? taking into mind it may be a class D write off, It drives fine,

people tell him that Audis are double skinned and water will be inside now for ever ??

Anybody any advice, or should he take money and buy car and get it mended

Can the wireing loom be borked ?

Anywys ne1 intrested also 5 to 6k and uve got a mint audi

If he wanted to keep it and bag a few £££ then maybe worth the hassle, if just to sell on and make a profit then not worth it IMO, the damp smell will linger and by the time you get some new seats and carpet etc then price will just go up and up, also with the market the way it is at the moment he may struggle to move it which would be a pain in teh ar$e.

water damaged cars are a pain in the ***. the electrics that are not working will need to be taken out and cleaned with electrical cleaner. this can be time consuming. placeing the car in a garage with a Humidifier will help dry all the car out.

yeah thanks for that.

We had fan blower going all day and some have soretd thenselves, but i agree on the pissy water smell, Unless he changes seats itll stink.

Just such a shame cos it works LOL

Airbags and such are linked also to a cable under seats as i rem AUDI replacing it before when i had issues.

I reakon once its dry and i change fuse for windows it may be so so.

Bose speakers survived
