World Record Attempt - Sideways Driving - Update
#1
Hi All
You may remember me posting about the World Record attempt we are setting up for driving sideways....
Guinness World Records have confirm their interest in the attempt so it's full steam ahead....
I am awaiting confirmation from MIRA that they will allow it, but appart from that it is all sorted...
AutoCar will be covering the event, toyo tyres will be supplying the tyres which will be specially prepared by Tyres Northampton. We need one more thing...
The Car...
I have only contacted one company directly today (no reply as yet), but would be open to discuss the supply of the car if your company / dealer, etc would be interested in supplying the scoob.
We also need fund raisers...
It would be great if you could get involved in raising money for charity through getting sponsorship of the attempt. There is an opportunity to raise a significant amount of money for charity.
Also, suggestions for specific charities would be a good also.
Best regards
Simon

Hi Paul
Can we talk about this on Sunday. I would like to take you up on that if possible.
Ady
You are an absolute star for suggesting it...
however, the car will take a little bit of punishment so I would rather not use someone's personal car...
I would rather a car was supplied that could be kept / displayed as the current world record holding car. Would make an interesting addition to a showroom I reckon.
Cheers

Is a scoob a poor choice for this ? Surely a RWD would make more sense ?
I remember the late mr Grimesey having to inflate the rear tyres to 45psi or something daft to do the skid pan thing with that red scoob.
good idea to do it for chariteeeeee

Hi Lee
RWD is definitely easier to get sideways. AWD cars require a totally different technique...
But there is genuinely no other road car in the world I would rather do this in.
The skills required to drive a scoob sideways are more difficult to attain, but the ability of the car is higher than that of a RWD in terms of completing the task.
Yes it will require more from me, but will stand a far better chance of completing the task.
Cheers

Surely this could be a massive marketing coup for Prodrive/IM or even a dealer with a MY01.
Didnt Mike Woods use to post on here .
"NEW MY01 IMPREZA WRX (World Record X) BREAKS WORLD RECORD"
This could be a big charity event 10p a circuit .
cheers
