Any body tried this stuff by millers. Ment to be enough for 10 fill ups and its under 10 quid a bottle. So £1 a tank. Hell of a bargain if its any good.

I was using the Diesel Version in my Mondeo ST TDCI (now sold), and can vouch for this particular product. Really does make a difference in the diesels so I would imagine the petrol version would be as good.

Worth noting that you would need to run it for 2 or 3 tanks to actually feel the difference.

 

Noticed it says adds up to 2 octane numbers, I don't think this is the same as 2 RON. Infact I'm sure its not.

 

I use the ordinary stuff as insurance, the problem with that product will be accurately measuring such small quantities.... like the new fangled detergents at home.

Does the car need to be mapped for Octane Booster?

Will it have any benefits to a car mapped to V-Power?

Improving the RON value with an additive will allow the ecu to dial in more ignition advance.
Mine loves the stuff, once the ambient air temp. drops to around 10 degrees it's utterly ballistic.

Or just good insurance to avoid problems.....

I get Millers CVL-turbo, it SHOULD be three bottles to a full tank

But that adds four points, ( to 102 RON ! ), so I get away with one bottle for a 1.3 RON improvement, in V-Power.

Always have one in the boot just in case they are out of SUL if I go for run out.

Yes, 2 octane numbers is 2 RON 2 octane points is 0.2 RON
I find it difficult to believe it could add "up to" 2 octane at a fuel/additive ratio of 1000:1 I'll give it a go, though. I normally only use booster for a margin of safety when using the car hard.

I would say that most people on here don't use O/B for increased performance, but as a safety precaution against det.

Here's a review on the stuff

 

Just mix in Methanol at a 5%-10% mix ratio per tank so on average it's basically a gallon per fill up.

Go to the fuel station, stick your gallon of Methanol in and then fill up with V-Power or Tesco 99RON. On a bog standard unmapped car it will give you full std mapped timing all the way gaining you several bhp increase and lots of torque with absolutely no chance of det.

On modified cars you could be looking at increases of 30-40bhp if mapped for 10% Methanol. Easiest way to permanently run a methanol mix is to carry a gallon of Methanol in the boot all the time or if on a long journey a couple of jerry cans if need be, and even if you couldn't find a 99RON fuel stop Methanol will make sure 95RON never ever causes you an issue.

BTW...Methanol is much cheaper than petrol and you can purchase any quantity you like i.e. 1000ltr IBC container for £500 or less so 50ppl. That's cheap!! Average your savings over a year's worth of fuel and you'll save about £220 a year off your normal yearly petrol bill and your scoob will go like stink. Add up how much it will cost you in Octane Booster on top of your yearly fuel bill and methanol makes a lot of sense not to mention its environmentally firendly. Don't know what it tastes like though

 

What are you hoping to achieve? Are you doing this before a remap?

Most use NF Octane Booster or Methonal if storage/handling isn't a problem.

 

sorry for going off topic would you have to change fuel lines etc for using methanol and can you use it everytime you need to fillup and where can you get it?

 

Normal fuel lines will be fine as it's just a small part mix.

If you were using pure methanol or Ethanol (E85) to run your car you might need to change some bits as Methanol/Ethanol tends to absorb water from the air and can be corrosive.

You can buy it from eBay and there are plenty of other sources online.

Methanol is used in the production of Biodiesel. So long as it is pure 99.85% min Virgin Methanol everything should be OK.

eBay isn't a bad source, you should be able to get hold of 25Lt containers minimum, 250ltr contaners works out a reasonable price. If you don't want to buy off eBay just do a search in your usual search engine under Methanol Suppliers UK and it should come up with loads. All a race fuel site will do is sell you the same amounts of exactly the same stuff for double the price.

Be careful if using methanol without mapping.

Methanol is oxygen rich and could possibly make the engine run lean if not mapped.
