Interesting comments, wonder if Subaru will stick with it or pull the plug?

Penti Airikkala is an extremely experienced and knowledgeable man. Subarus refusal to alter their historical configuration was the reason for their terrible failure in F1 too.....

I bought Pentti's Chevette HSR works car in the late 80s. Now that was a hairy arsed scary thing...

Really? When I was a lad someone owned a genuine road going HSR in Wirksworth (oposite the bottom of Water Lane, before there was a mini roundabout there, for those who know). I lusted after that car: every time I drove past in my little Chevette with genuine HS wheels.....

That's the fella. Looks impressive, but it was a bag 'o' sh*te. Horizontally opposed engines couldn't be competitive, but Subaru refused to alter their traditional layout.....

It happened with Lancia and the Integrale, the paymasters pulled it because they had nothing to prove they won everything. In the end they only seemed to get the bad publicity when they failed to win.

Lancia were more successful as well. The BAT days aside, the rest hasnt been that impressive. The Late 90s success was as much to do with Prodrive lobbying for the WRC specification over Gp A; and already having a car in the wings. Everyone else had to go out and develop one.....

I will add: that Id dearly like Subaru to win, but they wont. In order to win you have to be better and Subaru clearly arent even as good.
