I suggest that you get a decent car battery, halfords sell a good calcium battery.HCB005 is the one.

Had exactly the same thing with MY2003 STi, it was swapped twice under warranty, and if it's left for more than 4 days now without being started the battery runs flat .

Might be wrthwile trying battery reviver tablets.

You can get them from Halfords etc.

You just drop in these tablets & they revive your batterry if it can be saved.

Did any of you guys have problems with the engine after?

My battery was low the other day when I tried to start the car. It didn't have enough power to turn the engine over, and the alarm started blareing away.

I hooked the batt up to a charger overnight, and the car started the next day. Did struggle for a few seconds, only half catching. I went for a very short drive, only to notice CEL is on, and throttle response is really rough at low revs. idles was about 2,5k, although not fully warmed.

Anyway today I went out in it again. CEL on solid all the time, and idle has now relearned back down to 600rpm, after idling at aprox 2400, then at 1200. But engine has lost a hundred ponies, and it runs rough at low throttle opening. MY03 Sti with PPP.

Do I need to book it in for a ECU interogation, or will the ECU re-learn and clear itself?

Thanks

Gordon

Never had that M8. I'd get it looked at straight away, and not drive it if the CEL is on.

Sounds like some sort of Limp mode

Thanks guys.

Just an update, I did drive the car on 3 trips aprox 10 miles each with CEL on. Very carefully, not hoofing it. Engine felt flat, and very erratic at low throttle positions. (looked like a learner driver in the car park, lol)
4th trip I put foot flat on accelerator before starting engine, and CEL cancelled itself immediately on starting. Not sure if it was just co-incidence (as in has finished learning), but all 300 horses now back under the bonnet where they belong.

Car is running as it should.

Phew, I thought a visit to main stealer was on the cards.

If I'm not going to drive mine for a couple of days I've taken to superlocking it. This is effectively turning it off as its the alarm draining the battery. Its a pain the alarm going off when I come to use it, but otherwise seems to stop the drain. Should probably get a new battery soon.
