Mk 2 saxos have 130bhp, you would be suprised at the pace of these. What quarter mile time does a uk scoob do?? A 160ish bhp saxo will be mid 14's which must be close to a scoob.

I'm not getting involved in the whole what's faster debate, but out of curiosity can you reall extract 30 etra bhp just by changing the exhaust on a naturally aspirated saxo?

Clare, loose the induction kit and dump valve- pointless and potentially harmful additions. You'd be better served getting a remap to exploit your decat exhaust - should see you anywhere between the 260-280bhp mark.

It sounds like some people need to find themselves girlfriends.

LOL, my thoughts exactly, an exhaust an induction kit might get 1-5 bhp if that.

I thought that the saxo's were approx 125bhp at the fly which is why I wondered what the previous chap did to get 130 at the wheels.

Good advice

Get a EcuTek remap, and the saxo would feel like he left his handbrake on.

Firstly it will take a hell of a lot more than an exhaust, air filter and FSE power boost valve to return 160bhp on a VTS engine.

I spent several thousand tunning my 106 Dimma which had the VTS engine. I had forged pistons (high comp), light & balance, gas flowed head, kent PT52 cams, 4 branch manifold etc and all I ever got was 151bhp @ fly.

Before putting the Dimma wide arch kit, 18" wheels (why-o-why) my ickle 106 could keep on the bumper of a standard UK Impreza, maybe even push it along a little.... infact one pulled in and let me past on day

A standard UK Turbo at 215bhp with weight of 1450kg is 148bhp per ton

A modded 106 GTi at 151bhp with weight of 950kg is 158bhp per ton

106 GTi has transmission loss of 23%

UK Turbo has transmission loss of 30%

The truth hurts!

Are we talking classic scoob or newage? Think the classics weigh slightly less than the bug, blob and hawkeyes so probably have a slightly better power to weight ratio than quoted. Even still a 150bhp light hot hatch will still keep with a standard scoob depending on conditions.

I remember having an excellent blast with a clio ***** in my old uk classic many moons ago on straights and twisties and he was up my **** the entire time (oooh er )- happy days

Edited for accuracy

A Classic has 177bhp/ton as standard.

Considerably over 200+bhp per ton possible with an exhaust and remap. Agree with you completely that getting 30bhp extra out of a saxo will cost a lot more than just an exhaust- that owner is kidding himself.

Standing qtr mile for a UK turbo running 260bhp+ should be in the high 12s then I believe. 0-60 it would destroy the Saxo, it would never recover the deficit......not without rather more than 160bhp

The truth will set you free!

Cheers,

Ns04

Never knew you would lose 23% in a 2WD car.

I like the VRS, great "sleeper" much like the original UK turbo, before it became well known. At the time was deffo the VW groups best attempt at a performance car. Looks good in black too!

No doubt milkfloat would do me in the end. His batteries would last longer than my tank of fuel.

For all those textbook racers out there:

4WD cars: http://www.letstorquebhp.com/4wd.asp?sort=Make

2WD cars: http://www.letstorquebhp.com/fwd.asp?sort=Make

Of particular interest to "real-world" drivers should be the 0-100 or 60-100 times which are all "sortable" by clicking on the column title.

Compare and enjoy.

Textbook being much safer than street racing obviously

how do they already have figures for the STI 2.5 PPP I thought this package had not been developed yet. Also it states a WRX Type 25 is a faster accelerating car than the spec c 2.5 is this right?
