34mph in a 30mph zone is taking the p*ss!
On my way home this afternoon, after fixing my mums central heating pump and sorting out some repairs on my fiancee's dad's motor, I get flashed doing 34mph!
What p*ss's me off even more is that the camera is situated on Chatham Hill ( a fairly steep down hill road ) set do deliberatly catch people out.
Had a nice clean license for 6 years aswell!
Will they really do me for something so small??
Wonder if my nice small number plate will get me off?
Knowing my luck, they'll probably do me for that aswell.

i've been flashed plenty of times and had nothing when i'm not speeding, you'll probably find it was someone coming the other way or something!
by law you are allowed 10%plus 2, so in a 30 zone that is 35, due to the inherent inaccuracy of the speedo, and if you a NIP or FPN for less than this you can contest it i believe.
don't worry about it until it comes through mate.

Did it flash once or twice?
If it only flashed once, you're fine anyway as it takes one picture as you enter the markes zone and another when you leave it.
I've been flashed 'once' a couple of times, normally when I'm being lazy and coasting down to the speed limit rather than braking in advance.

Chances are the camera is faulty, seem to remember one locally that was flashing everything that went past for a spell!
Was that 34mph on your speedo? That would equate to about 30mph on mine comparing the speedo to my GPS.
Finger crossed for the next 14 days

yea 34/35mph on the speedo. Can't remember if it flashed once or twice, it was a foward facing camera, hence it takes a picture of the front of your car.
Wondering about my small number plate though!

Last time I got caught speeding on Chatham hill was over 20 years ago - on a 125 motorbike doing 50 up the hill at 1am in the morning ! Copper was a biker - so gave me a lecture, some chat & some advice but no ticket & let me go on my way... - ahhh... the days with real policemen instead of virtual or robot ones...

You arent allowed anything by law. Youre referring to the ACPO guidelines but the camera partnerships arent bound by that. You can be prosecuted for travelling at 1mph over the posted limit.....

That's what I feared! What is the world coming to?? Camera's by schools, hospitals etc -Yes. But not on a fairly steep, down hill stretch of road, with no schools around!

if it was a forward facing camera then it won't be a gatso and it shouldn't flash at you (safety reasons)
If it was a gatso, then it takes a picture of the rear of your car so the small front number plate will be useless.
was there a car travelling towards you that may have set it off???

As GC8 says, the 10%+2 is only a guideline, NOT law. The posted limit is the law. When you first said a Gatso had got you and that your small front plate might get you off I thought you'd be in the clear as Gatso's can only do you from behind (oo-err!), but it seems it was a Truvello. They don't site sCameras near schools, hospitols, parks etc as it is a known and proven fact confirmed by government research that accidents increase near camera sites due to drivers attention being moved away from the road and the job of driving. All I can recommend is a trip over to www.pepipoo.com and a trip to Halfords for a Road Angel.

Mate, to be honest I think you`ll be fine there, as the Central Ticket Office for your area would not be able to cope if the cameras in your area were set so low. The amount of paper generated by a camera set so low would be excessive for the staff to deal with.

does anyone else find themselves almost constantly glued to their speedo these days rather than watching the road ahead...? especially in bloody roadworks...?!
