tell her your off to buy her something really special, better yet tell her you ordered something for her and are heading out to pick it up (shows forward planning, obviously something us men just dont do, like peeing in the pan, or ironing...... only kidding about the ironing, well for some men.....erm im digressing). Head out get the car remapped, on the way back stop in a shop that sells womens undies, purchase something she would like (and you) and not only do you get your car sorted, you also get the wife to dress up in her new get up (or batwoman or a nurse, depending on your taste).

That's exactly what I would do!! It sounds like a selfless act on your part, thinking of her and leaving her to be pampered all day.

She'll probably ask what you will be doing, and you say organising a suprise!!

That evening when you pick her up, have a bunch of her favourite flowers in the car and take her out to whatever sort of restaurant she likes best!

Sounds pretty straight froward to me, and you get to free up a good 6 hours!!

I'm heading over to Sydney (MRT are just down the road from where we are staying) and Hong Kong (apparently an uncle of mine owns a car tuning shop ) for my Honeymoon, and my future wife understands that there will be some car accessory shopping involved in both places!!

as a last resort you could always slip her some heavy duty sleeping pills and bugger off for the day. then eventually when she wakes up later in the day you can make her feel bad by saying that you sat in all day waiting for her to wake up so you can both go and do something - get the first guilt trip in before its a completely one way street

here's what I did:

so booked it and paid my deposit
months away, so got planning. weekend away, remap on saturday afternoon. booked hotel, health spa, manicure and pedicure, full body massage for her booked for same time as remap. Didn't tell her where we were going at all, big surprise. mother had our kids, friends had animals
nice leisurely drive down to swindon, stopped for pub lunch on the friday, hotel restaurant meal on friday night. still not told her what I was doing
saturday morning, told her about her appointments.
"and what are you doing while I'm doing that?"
"remap!"
"you sneaky, underhand, keniving bugger!"
sent her packing to first appointment, went for remap, came back well chuffed, car completely different wife well relaxed and happy beyond belief
later found out that all her m8's at work think I'm dead good, as I could have just gone for remap and not told her a thing, but cause I thought of her, big bonus points
