Hi,

STI cars only come with water spray as standard. This system sprays water over the intercooler core to reduce temperatures. Water injection systems inject water mist into the in duction charge the engine injests.

I see.....didn't realise it was water spray-so is this only really of benefit in hot weather? Or if driving the car hard?

Is it one continuos spray when the switch is flicked?

So many questions

Hi again guys.

Friend has bought his scoob now. Jap import WRX STI. Nice car!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about the water injection that it comes with.
Is this standard equipment on the WRX/STI or has it been added in Japan?

Secondly-what do you guys run it on? Just water, or methanol aswell?

Thirdly-how does the whole thing operate? Obviously there is the switch in the dash, but what does this actually do?

Does it have one dash switch or two?

The typeR has an auto switch aswell as a manual switch (they are next to each other). The auto function is controlled by the ECU (i think) and sprays water when a set MAP value is reached (i think)

If it has one switch it is likely to be a 1996ish type RA, and i have no idea how it works on this type of car.
