Question

If a 4 cylinder engine only runs on 3 cylinders, for example a plug/coil is knackered, is there any long term damage and will the cat be useless since I assume excess fuel will have got into the exhaust.

The car in question is obviously not a Subaru !

Thanks

The car is 9 months old, done 8k miles and for the last 300miles has run on 3 cylinders, albeit gently.

Thanks

What, it's run continuously on three cylinders for 300 miles (i.e. not just when starting up)? If so, it doesn't sound good -- the fuel may well have poisoned the cat
