Looking at moving my impreza on pretty soon, owned it for 8 years and fancy something newer but having a wee look at some the same year as mine brings up these

Mines an 03 at 400bhp modded sensibly with all receipts kept and in great condition with 78k miles but realistically I've got in my head that its worth 7 to 7.5k tops ?

I guess it's all supply and demand. There is only that many of these left in good condition, not chavved up or broken for parts. I paid well over £10k for my sti widetrack last year as I simply couldn't find anything decent below that price and these used to be around £7k only couple of years ago

non widetrack are never going to be command as much as widetrack, so 7-8k is prob about right money for a decent one, but at the end its what people are willing to pay

Interesting links you post there - the two on Pistonheads are ones I recognised as being owned (or previously owned) by forum members.

The third (A6 Motors) is a dealer where I'm picking up my next car (not an Impreza) and might end up part-ex'ing the Widetrack.


As for the price - very hard to gauge Impreza prices, but there aren't many Widetracks for sale - I count under 10, ranging from £7,000 to £20,000. By way of an example there are the same same number of Ferrari 599GTO (and a further 32 Ferrari 599 GTB) currently for sale in the UK - makes you realise how few Imprezas there are.

Rarity doesn't always equal high prices, though.

For example there are only about 5 old Saab 900 turbos for sale on auto trader, but the lost expensive one is 5000ish

miles seems to be the killer with the newage subarus ,,, classics got used as weekend cars a lot more but the newage got used as everyday cars so people put a lot more miles on them ,,, most 7-8k one are well over 100k miles iv found ,,, just got a nice blob to replace the hatchback

Samuk that's a lovely car. I picked up a blobeye beginning of the year. Looked a some type uk around the price of 8/9k. Ended up paying more but getting a fresh import, 2003 jdm sti v-limited peter solberg edition. Also wanted the rarity and the roof vent 😁

Lets not forget new age uk low mile 03/04 STI have been around £8-9k for last 10 years so there selling so not surprised widetracks are that ......is a car that age worth that to most people?..... no when you can get a low mile 64 plate golf R for 14k

so how is it you think the widetracks dont get rusty but the pre wide tracks do when they are only a year or two apart ?? ,, from what iv found by owning loads of them is the wide tracks tend to hide the rust better under the widetrack lip on the arch but suffer just the same as any other car if not treated right ,, plus far more none wide tracks have been broken so the numbers are prob a lot lower than you think

I know classics are different but the market in general is very slow at the minute, I’ve got my type r for sale in a few places and can’t get a single bit of genuine interest and I thought I’d priced it realistically

I think the colour reduces the amount of potential buyers but it’s a great car, well specced and maintained with all the supporting paperwork.

ive honestly not even had a single call or email since putting it on PistonHeads, had a small amount of interest on Facebook but as usual it was people wanting 3 grand knocked off without even asking a single question never mind viewing it!

iv found this not to be the case ,,, having owned and sold well over 100 subarus over the last few years iv found the age doesn't really make a difference to how its been treated underneath ,, some are clean some are rusty ,, but to say one year makes a difference is just silly ,,, my current none wide track has no rust and is as clean as they come but my last wide track was a rust bucket ,, please explain why this is to me with your logic why one year apart makes all the difference lol

It’s a relatively rare (compared to the other type r’s) signature edition apparently.....but yeah what time are you wanting to view it haha
