Default Centre Diff - New or used? Where can I get one?

I'm convinced that my centre diff is dead due to the knocking noise when warm. Is it worth finding a used one if possible or is that asking for more trouble in the short term?

I've seen a new one online for ~£500 is that a good price or can you recommend a better (read cheaper) supplier

Thanks

Dccd or non dccd? I'm sure ICP sell new non dccd diffs around the £500 range so I would go with that. If it's a dccd diff I have never seen a new one for sale...........

Thanks for the quick response. Its a WRX so non dccd. I think it may have been ICP that I had seen advertised - is there any way to be certain it is the centre diff? £500 is a big chunk of change if I'm wrong but worth spending once if it is the problem.

Thanks - You recommend doing the full 5spd gear box then, or just the rear part where the diff is housed plus either a matching rear diff or matching what I already have?

I'm quite happy with a tool or two but not done much with transmission before.

when my 5 speed broke i bought a complete used box from matty b on here with matching rear diff for around £350 then sold my old box/diff for £75 so it was a nice cheap solution.

Matty B was the first person I could think of for a replacement diff but he didn't have one, I'll give him a shout to see about a used box/diff.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

simply get the correct ratio gearbox and there is no need to mess with rear diff...............
