If it's running the std ecu (even when mapped). Then just put throttle to the floor and then crank. It won't start as it cuts the fuel. All hawk onwardsdo this.
edit: it was the late JGM who told me about this. First time doing it I was still a bit nervous but works 100%.

It amazes me so many people don’t know this...many 1990’s engines with electronic fuel injection did this to clear a flooded engine. Subarus are no different, even some modern cars do it.
It’s also in the owner manual under the section “starting a flooded engine”

My battery was like this, don't use the car all that often now so every time i'd come to start it the battery was dead. I bought a c-tek 5.0 batttery charger / conditioner
which would condition it, charge it back up and afterwards it would be ok for maybe 5 days or so before being back to struggling to start if it started at all.
Finally admitted defeat just before xmas and bought a Yuasa silver battery for it, think i paid £59 off E-Bay, so much better now, it still starts after being left for
a couple of weeks.

I first learnt of this back in the 1990’s when my XR3i used to flood itself in winter (sticky lifters, loses compression, so stalls then floods with fuel)...funny that even 2005 1.25/1.4 Fiestas can the very same thing (start, stall, then flood) and the cure is the same..foot to the floor to stop the fuel being injected.
Subaru same...that used to flood if I accidentally stalled it when hot.
PSA Prince engines do still inject a little fuel, but not enough to start (found that out when diagnosing one with a faulty temp sensor making it think it was -30degrees, so literally poured the fuel in at normal throttle positions.
