Default Tyre Width 235mm or 225mm (WRX-S hatch)

Happy New Year to all.

Looking to change all 4 tyres on the WRX-S and was thinking of going from a 225/40/18 up to a 235/40/18? Car is running with 18x8 PFF7’s so will fit the alloy just cautious about the clearance on the inside edge?

Is anybody running this setup / can offer some sound advice?

Speedo will off read , you may get more body roll , clearance issues will probably be ok it’s a bit of fit it and see , the contact patch may only go up around 8 mm , tyres maybe more expensive , a good make of tyre is more important than width

Appreciate you getting back to me. Overall diameter will change by 8mm (4mm each side), circumfrence 25mm so speedo will only be out by 1mph at 80mph. Body roll I'm not to concerned about as I have perrin uprated anti roll bars front and rear. Totally agree on the brand...I will be fitting PZero's or Pilot Sport 4's regardless of which size I go for.

Can never have to much rubber on the road...would just really like confirmation that these would fit before buying them. Thought someone may be running 235 on a hatch (WRX) already

I was thinking of doing this on my fsti , it was a case of buy and see, as tyres can be different widths rim protectors etc plus suspension settings and type of suspension can be different , i did not as felt it was not worth it in the end , insurance company were not bothered but cost of wider tyre went up , i did it on my monaro going up a size , in reality i did not notice the change so it may make a very small change but not obvious , i went with the better vredestein ultrac vorti , a very good tyre for a sensible price , much better handling on the fsti , and i have a set on the back of a v8 with 500 bhp and they work very well
