Default Hatch STI Mishimoto race intake & remap

Just wondering if the intake mentioned and in the link below. Needs a remap tweek if fitted? I have an ECUTEK remap which as you may know has a license that only the orginal mapper (Duncan) can access and change. I recently had a decat fitted and my remap changed accordingly by Duncan. The smart thing to have done wouldve been to fit one of these at the same time but that wasnt possible at the time.

So basically can i run this safely without getting the map changed again and forking out for the privilege?

https://www.mishimoto.co.uk/subaru-w...ake-08-14.html

thanks.

Hi , i can’t open the link , if it’s any more than a panel filter then worth getting the map checked it maybe fine , when it’s fitted do an ecu reset then drive it sensibly till map has been checked , would a decent panel filter not be enough ?

Sorry link edited. I have a K&N panel fitted at the moment, was looking for a bit more sound.

The MAF readings will be quite out, so you’ll definitely need a remap; I did
You’ll be fine driving it off boost or light boost only until remapping it

Your brain needs a re-map if you buy mishimoto products...........cheap ****e that will fall to bits. Customer service is ****e aswell.

Stick with decent brands like perrin/rcm/cosworth etc

Dude, have you actually tried the race intake the OP is talking about?
Coming out and saying all X products are rubbish, because presumably you tried one of them (which one did you try actually?) is like saying all Subaru’s are crap because of the 2.5 engine failures, or all Porsches are ****e cause of the GT3 engines blowing up

If the EcuTek license has been paid any mapper should be able to tweak it, why has duncan locked it?

It will need map tweak as it'll flow a lot more than std airbox and will need maf rescaled

As the license is on the ecu it means they can map it yes but they can't tweak another mappers map

Yes, unfortunately this is correct. £200 for a tweak too

I wouldn't modify the car further until you have a few more bits to warrant the map tweak, an intake can change how the car sees the airflow quite substantially.

So leave as is for now, get more mods and a map tweak, or just pay the £200 on top of the intake - but you won't really see much in way of gains.
