Drop-in air filter panel
2006 STi. Mapped to 300-ish. Ninja II exhaust. Otherwise, bone stock-a-roony.
I want some more air into the system. Which is the best filter panel? Stick with OEM? PiperX? K&N? This is just for breathing: I know there won't be any gains.

don't quote me on it but I don't believe the stis with PPP have any different filter installed so OEM should be okay. but no hard im k&n or cosworth

I’ve used the hks item and using one currently in little brothers std ppp no eml lights works fine
budget would be the blue cosworth item over the oiled k&n item imo

No bud there covered in oil. I bought one after reading mag reviews few years back and best for gains. But when I bought one if came in a sealed bag dripping in oil. Then read on here about the oil clogging up your maff.
Others have said about poor quality aswell. I'd say Cosworth. I bought Pipercross R also good half the price of Cosworth.

A while ago they did a test on loads of panel filters there was nothing in it , the best one was the sti standard paper filter , but if you are looking for a cheap easy to clean option then buy a k and n or cosworth one but don’t expect any benefits just a reduction long term in cost because you clean it and don’t buy one each time , just don’t over oil or oil the wrong side of a k and n due to maf issues

The bhp difference from best to worse filter is so small you won’t notice it , you will notice more power increase on a cold day than you will a filter change , cone filters have an effect but the cost of a remap on top , plus when i had one on mine the noise ended up being rather annoying , if you do everything like de cat sports exhaust air filter re map then as a package you will notice it as a package

He said he's not after more power just trying to get more air in the system. Stuff I've read on cone filters don't do much at all. Problem is they suck in unwanted heat MCM did a dyno test on some.

I tried a few years back the Pro-R one linked further up. I personally didn't like it, made my 2007 STi feel lean.
Probably some of it was just in my head lol.
Gave it to a mate at work, I'd only done around 25 miles on it. Dropped straight into his 53 plate Nissan 350Z....he likes it.

Cosworth has been nothing but "badge engineering" over the last number of years and not even sure whats going on with them at this moment with the large scale sell off of parts, stock, etc.............

Thanks for the feedback, chaps.
Dropped the Green filter in, and didn't go for the resonator delete in the end. Filter only very mildly oiled - nothing like the sticky mess I remember with K&N variants.
Slight increase in induction sound, but main benefit is top-end breathing. I now hit 80mph (ON A CLOSED, PRIVATE TRACK IN MADRID) in third at 6,000rpm. So - she's breathing better Job done.
Kept old filter for future cleaning of new one, and in case the engine doesn't like the change. No CEL thus far. All good. (And £47 was £6 p+p to get it early because I am simultaneously 42 AND 13, and wanted my shiny new thing).

A good clip , it does show that air filters make a very slight difference but it’s so small you would not notice it , the simple answer is no , every thing i drive has a performance ?? lol filter in it but i look at it as an only cheaper option instead of buying a new filter each time rather than a performance mod , a cold day or better fuel would probably give you more of a noticeable change

I see what your saying but for 2bhp every little helps. But as the OP said he wasn't after more performance just more air. So extra bhp will just be a bonus.
