Question Torque GT, Newera, Hurst Cars?

Hello!
New on this forum, wanted to know if any of you guys had experience with any of these companys?
Kindoff leaning onto the Hurst Cars side, but heard that Neware imports are better, sent them a inquiry, they don't respond....
What are your opinions?
Cheers!

purchased my forester sti from torque gt, great service, Darren is very helpful, very reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate buying another from them. not the cheapest, but good cars.

I’ve heard great things of hurst but never used them.

I remember contacting torque gt a good 6yrs and asking about costs and it was out of my budget.

finally after a lot of saving I contacted Torque GT with a price and BOOM. Darren has sourced me a grade 4B Impreza. Well I’m sure Rohanna did but that’s a joke between us.

From what Darren said until now (car is currently on route with an eta of late Oct) every step has been as he has said and has been Brilliant.

even showing me a car that when his team inspected it, it had a dent that would be hell to remove.

obviously I don’t have the car yet so can’t give you a finished outcome but from the pictures I looks brand new!

Call each one up and have a chat, google reviews and see.

I've only used hurst, not sure if i would again tbh. Accused me of trading in a pup to him, which turned out to be his fault for letting the battery go flat, argued about cost of repairs that were found on inspection of the car i bought, although did come to an agreement over costs and then engine let go within 3k of owning it.

Hurst aren’t great I’ve heard off a few people. Out of your 3 choices opt for Torque GT.

As I have already told the OP, not everyone has a great experience with Torque GT.

What happened to the car when the battery went flat? Genuinely interested, as I’ve let them go flat on both my Imprezas and nothing untoward has ever happened?

was an M3 with SMG. SMG has its own ECU and it sent it screwey when the battery went down. I only had it 6 months before i came back to an impreza (found it pretty boring) so he accused me of selling it cos the gearbox was bad. Was nowt wrong with it but didn't give me an apology for the false accusations

Agreed, same story with me, a JDM STI from Max at Hurst. I’m my experience he was a pleasent guy, true to his word and I also still have the car 2 years on. I pop in to see him now and again, have a look over stock etc as I work in Bedford (where he’s based). He’s always got time for a chat 👍🏻

I think the nature of buying an import 1000's of miles away where you can't actually go and see it for yourself is always going to be the limitation as you are relying on a 3rd party to inspect the car for you.

I've bought from Max at Hurst and I have to say after initial reservations before meeting him (from stories around) I was very pleased with the service and got a fantastic car from him with all the work agreed and completed with absolutely no trouble. I've subsequently spoken several times to him again about other cars.

I've also bought from Newera, this was the most disappointing service for me, very poor prep, subsequently I had to personally pay for the car to be transported several hundred miles to be "fixed" for a problem which shouldn't have even been there and how it passed MOT with brakes like that were sent with is a disgrace. I was charged top price for an average car, never again.

Powerplay I avoided after looking at buying an Evo 6 Tommi Makkinen, since found the vin he gave me was actually a previously damaged car in Japan.

Both my last 2 cars a Skyline GTR and also Spec C have come through the GTR shop, which I've also found to be very good but I've dealt with for a number of years.

Torque GT I've had very good communication with but never gone through with fully due to various reasons but my friend had a Forester STI through them and it was a very nice car.

It's very much hit and miss but you need to rely on the information they give you as being correct, do your homework and also CarVX is your friend to check the history.

Personally I found the cars at hurst not up to scratch , drove up with intention of buying a late gc8 sti or bug sti they had that was top money but "good honest condition "
far from it was very tatty and lots of paint work done or required. No auction sheet but car vx proved was a grade R

same story on the bug sti which had been painted all down the side , boot , bumper and required front painting I thought well could of just been a scratch and redone , nope the rear arch lip was twice the thickness as made up of filler.
Chap was polite tho, just me having the hunp as a 7 hour round trip.

Ive heard torque and newera are good.

don't get me started on the M3..what an utter piece of crap those cars are...I could only stand mine for 6 months..It was a manual..the worst gearbox in the world...

I've heard very mixed reviews about Hurst..I've spoken to Max several times and he always seemed genuine, but then again, who doesn't on the phone...I have encountered a car that he brought it and it turned out to be a bit of a nail...

newera....the most over priced cars Ive ever seen, and when I've spoken to the chap, he was totally unhelpful and uncooperative..

Personally I took the chance and imported direct . Did the car have s few issues? Of course it did but overall was much better condition than I was expecting.
But I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
10 years ago new era was the place to go but over the past couple of years the reputation has taken a bit of a plunge. Top money no longer top cars.

AS For hurst I have never used max but have been in conversation with several people who went to view cars from him that I did a few checks on for and the cars were very disappointing in person
The biggest problem now is the age of these cars and a top condition import is costing top money the pound is really weak against the yen and that isn’t helping.

its def buyer beware at the moment way to many “ importers ” but not many good cars.

I know dcy used used to have a very good rep they are still trading but don’t advertise much
depends on what part of the country you are in there are a few very well recommended companies in Japan that could sort you out
depends on what car you are after and what your budget is .

Every dealer is going to have good and bad reviews.. its the trade business..

I bought my JDM STI completely off emails and phonecalls, I never saw it in person as Im in Ireland, and the car was on route from Japan, I had it collected straight off the boat and sent to me.. Max (Hurst) never even saw the car..

And im well happy with it, over the moon actually, and he did me a very good deal on it as he pretty much didn't have to touch it, just get it to the UK.

We even talked twice after on the phone to see if all was good.

Exactly this, everyone is going to have different views and experiences, I think the pool of good cars is gradually drying up a bit so always going to be more difficult to find the right car independent of which dealer sources it.

i grew to hate mine...gering was waaaay to long, long throw, arm rest in the way, unsupportive seats, bland engine below 5k revs, no torque, numb steering, felt heavy, instruments difficult to read when peddaling along, weak brakes, not particularly comfortable to be called luxurious but not focussed enough to be called sporty either....looked nice though..
and back on topic..
