Question re JDM folding mirrors
Do jdm folding mirrors have the heating elements like uk cars or not?
Ive finally got the jdm mirrors onto my hawk sti and they work fine, folding and moving,
I fitted them but got a garage to do the electrics as my car is a type UK and didnt have the proper wiring. The plugs were different too (tho they looked to have same wires plus an extra one)
....buut they dont demist anymore....

none do.
ive found one guy do it on here but doesn’t say what wires etc he used.
trying to find someone breaking a Hawkeye and saying can you give me the loom from the doors to thenheated switch is impossible.
they seem scared to tackle the wiring.
would a blobs work?

Sorry, I never got round to doing anything about the heated elements - have heard some jdm's/wr1's have heated elements and some dont so not sure what to do - I dont know anyone with a jdm hawk to look at wiring or mirror glass - its a pain with the blobs having teh switch /wiring different place... I do have the original mirrors (plus another set) so can try n figure out how to swap out the glass bit. When/if I do will let you know....

im hoping the housing is the same and the element just clicks in behind the glass.
then it’s souring the loom for that section.
struggjng to find it @Dom 😬

I’ve sourced a hawk mirror and will take it apart to compare to jdm.

Depending upon spec EDM (RHD or LHD) Hawks came with both heated and non heated mirrors
Heated and non-heated have different plugs (with different pin numbering) fitted to the looms within the doors.
RHD version
From the above wiring diagram it can be seen that the heating circuits are totally independent of the mirror adjustments side of things (apart from one earth connection) and as such could be run totally separate apart from within the mirror.
The big question is whether or not the rest of the required wiring within the main body loom from the A pillars inward is present (from connectors D1/D11).
Mirror heating is activated at the same time as the rear screen defogger. Are the link wires/relay location present?
Just as an aside
When I fitted JDM mirrors to my MY11 saloon it required the JDM mirrors to have the glass changed (fitted to UK legacys) and additional wires routed through their looms and the connectors changed out to suit.
Not sure how you'd fair with Newage mirrors.

That’s excellent Dom thanks.
i was thinking it should be simple enough to source the mirrors from a uk hawk (that are heated)
get the loom with plugs from the wing mirrors, through the door and behind the dash to the demist button and then retro fit it in the jdm.
should be simple enough, it’s just finding the loom. 2nd hand would in theory be cheaper but finding someone willing to remove it from a hawk will be the hard part.

Far easier to just run the two wire heater circuits as separate made up entities or you'll have a hell of a job on your hands (or whoever you ask to do it).

Door looms - mirror and A pillar connectors highlighted

Do you know what it is you are actually suggesting ??

Was hoping that someone would trace the three wires out of the loom and untangle it. I assume it would be ‘enjoyable’ won’t say easy with the dash out of the way.
If I can use any old wire and just fit the end connectors I’ll haplily do that.
im having my security upgraded so was hoping to throw the fitter a few readies and get him to add the wiring in ready for the mirrors 🤫
he doesn’t know it yet but if he has everything out he may as well dig in.
cant get those pics / links to work.
