On a serious note, out of all the cars I've owned, being either front wheel drive or mid engined rear wheel drive, my Impreza 2.0RX is the best I've driven in the snow. The all wheel drive helps
Snow covered canal bridges, I've had to drive over on way home - no problem.
In fact, had no trouble wherever I've been. Even put my foot down a bit on works carpark & drove no problem. which leads to a question......
How hard do you have to push it, not that I'm likely to, before the traction control kicks in?
My Spec D was shocking in the snow. Never driven a more unsuitable car to be honest. By the time I got home on Thursday night I was a nervous wreck. It's not too bad on the straight / up and downhill, but it's when you need to stop and turn.
Man it was all over the shop.
I think a mixture of 8JJ wheels, Bridgestone RE070, stiff suspension and somewhat overpowered for snowy conditions.
Never taking that out in the snow again, sorry, but I was very uncomfortable....perhaps paranoid to an extent. No bumps or damage, but got overtaken in stupid places etc.
Still, got home in one piece so that's the main thing.

You well and truly got me there, thats 2.50 mins of my life i ain,t going to get back.
but yes i know what mean, there really is some nutcases out there, in all the years of scooby ownership my black wagon has always got me to work with no issues.

Snow tyres....Hawkeye..if you have to drive it they really are a must.Will transform the drive and keep you out of the VW.
On my widetrack jdm with winter tyres it was absolutely brilliant had so much confidence would drive it anywhere, here is a pic when I decided to miss out the traffic and go for a drive through the lanes, have sold the car now but best combination I have ever had for bad weather driving, drive it careful and no wheel spin and could easily start on a decent incline
Re070 I had on my summer wheels and they would lose traction on the flat, braking was also very poor.
Still no idea why Flickr images show twice on here, every other forum I use is ok with this.
Never been so scared behind the wheel in all my life!
It was like driving a sled with 4 revolving ski's lol
The worst was how close behind me people were. 10 miles of unbelievable stress!!
That,s the problem if you take driving seriously, you can clear the snow/defrost the car
/put all your lights on / fit the right tyres / plan your route ect ect.
Then you have the really hard part !, keeping your wits about you, for those that don,t do any of those things and go looking for trouble.
Still as drove a Recovery truck...i did like them the best..
I've got falcon 914's on my wrx wagon, I'd class them as summer tyres but they coped. Only a few miles to work but I kept my head on a swivel for morons and kept slow.
Have to say I had every confidence in my wagon, first time I've used it in the snow and the 4wd just laughed at the weather.
Mine has been great at getting going with no problems on decent inclines(RS3 btw) but shocking at corners and stopping. The std fit tyres are hard as hell in the cold temps.
My old 330d on the winter tyres was possibly better in these conditions. The RS3 on winter tyres however would be a right weapon
I had to do a couple of rescue missions in my wagon last week, to pick people up from stations in Sevenoaks and Otford, about 7 miles away. A couple of sideways moments when I tried to stop, but luckily both were in small lanes with bouncy hedges, not brick walls or other cars!
Definitely not the best tyres for the job as it broke traction quite easily.
