Default chimney stack - is it really needed?

On my can i have the original chimney stack thing over the turbo. do these really make that much difference re heat management?
pretty much every other car i've seen doesn't have one installed, and it's rattling like a b*stard so i'm tihnking of just taking it off.

or maybe replacing it with a turbo blanket?

If you remove it put a turbo blanket on there's a lot of radiant heat of the turbo.

It utilises the extreme corner section of the phase 1's bonnet scoop to force air through it, so as to to cool the turbo housings down, by the mild ram effect caused by the forward motion of the vehicle.

I 'like' the idea of it, personally.

It's held on with 4 10mm bolts, just check they are all in place and tight.

Funny they don't have them on models after, guessing its because they just have bigger intercoolers.

As above, ensure all the bolts are tightened properly.

I never had an issue with rattling OEM turbo heatshields/chimneys.

it's never been a problem before, but currently it seems to be touching the exhaust housing of my turbo... hence the question. maybe it's twisted or something.
