booked the ferry for 06th of October and going hooning around Scotland. Did the trip last year and loved it to bits. Heading to Belfast and over to cairnryan via ferry and then onto Edinburgh for the first night, using all non satnav roads.
some epic roads north of that and nothing booked for the second night. Getting the ferry back to Ireland late Sunday evening. Can't wait.

I would highly recommend taking in the "Dukes Pass" (A821) if at all possible. Search it on YouTube. If you want to hit Loch Lomond you could incorporate it in that journey either to or from that area. It has some lovely sweeping bends and shorter sprints from turn to turn. If you want a mix of driving styles and techniques that a good Impreza loves I'd honestly take this road every time. I'm not for a second suggesting it's clever to "push on" on public roads but a friend is a local police officer in Nearby Callander and tells me they rarely have time to police the area due to manpower and resources. If you do intend on taking it in then early daylight is best as a fair few drivers and bikers head that way simply for the pleasure of the pass. I normally do it around 5am in the Summer mornings. 😊

They never do "police" it but that's not the issue. The issue is it's so tight that there's no margin for error and if it's goes wrong it'll be proper wrong. My biggest concern is other vehicle users, and becoming one with them if it goes wrong. I even stayed clear with the motorbike, great for cycling though

If you're up my way give me a shout and I'll tag along for a bit, show you some nice roads etc.

completely agree but then no one needs kick the **** out of it. Great roads all the same, I would still highly recommend it if someone intends on heading that way specifically for the pleasure of driving on some great Scottish roads.

Less than a week now and another bug eye STI is with us now. Should be in Edinburgh by 7pm on Friday and nowhere booked for the Saturday and no where particular to drove. Got to love the off the cuff nature.

The SSOC are heading out from Pitlochry on the 8th for the final run of the season, if you're up for that or nearby then I'm sure you'll be more than welcome. In fact the MLR and another club I can't remember are invited. We're either taking the Evo or Bug as we're off to Skye the following day for the week with the Wagon.

Route is

Pitlochry - Killin - Oban - Fort William then back down. It may be Fort William then Oban but I can remember, we'll be tagging along from Killin.

Subscribed; just dropped my lad at Edinburgh uni, and loved driving there, after the M6 crowds.
Will definitely be visiting in the spec C hatch, it's just a mega journey from Lands end

If you've only the weekend you likely won't be going that far up, but note that other than Tesco in Wick, 99 is not available north of Inverness. If you are mapped for higher octane it's a good idea to bring some octane booster.

I would love to tag along but I've just torn my ACL in my right knee that makes driving difficult at best!!!! Real shame as it would be great to meet some other owners in the area 😥

I used to be based with the RAF at Lossie just outside Elgin. When you leave Perth ensure your tank is full as (did not happen to me thankfully) but you used to hear of the A9 suddenly being shut with cars stranded. If you are going off Sat Nav you may have uncertainty on getting decent fuel.

i plan to visit Lossiemouth as a old school mate died there on service in the nineties ; training accident with Jags or Buccaneers...active service in 1st Gulf war, only married 6 weeks.

What an epic trip it was indeed. Made our way to Edinburgh the first day via mountain roads and anywhere that was green on the map or satnav.
Next day was to head up north and again hit everywhere bar national roads.
third day we hit dukes pass on the way home,but too much traffic on it and Sunday drivers and motorbikes didn’t help.
