Simple fact is... there are people out there with way, way more money than us pauper serfs on a dying Crappy Subaru forum.... fortunately... I have been saying it for a few years...
Prices will rise and stay there, there are a few models that will have World wide appeal and the P1 aint one of them.
A lot of the ones that the UK market value like P1, V5/ 6 won't be as prized as early cars... it's your V1-2-3 WRX and V3 STI's with the Type R's and RA's leading the way... that's where the real money will be.
Spec C's etc are still fetching the money now... but they'll soon get overtaken in about 5yrs... mark my words.
Doesn't matter how well the UK is doing, there are people out there that will see it as an investment... look at E-Type Jags, MK1 Escorts... Shoit compared to modern cars... as are most classics... but they fetch silly money.

If you read the Bonhams descriprion it was the prototype that was not moved on. I think Bonhams credability is quite good.

When this was first listed as coming to auction soon by Bonham's, it was listed in the blurb that it was Nicky Grist's car. That's since been removed.
Nicky say's it's not his, Colin's or Dave Lapworth's as they "all had mileage on them"
So what is it? Is there a fourth car that is numbered 000? It's always been reported that there were only 3, and they were given to Colin, Nicky and Dave. Or is it a different numbered car, replica numbering plaques are easily aquired.

I think this is the 22B that is on various youtube videos in a Subaru Showroom in Japan.
Reason being the fact they are stating that import tax and vat is to be added on the hammer price would make me think its not been registered in the UK / Europe before..
Eitherway a lovely example - Irreplaceable, and if money was no object as a Subaru fan I would buy it ! Although I already got one now

This is the Tokyo motor show car and was a prototype. It's model code is for a type R as it was built from a type R. It's not actually part of the production run. Therefore you *could* say it's not an actual 22b but as it is in fact the very first example and was the actual motor show car I think I would be happy to say it is a 22b. It was a case of build this one for the motor show then start production afterwards. The 3 other 0 numbered cars are production models where as this was the prototype.
It is also not that one in the video. It is owned by a chap in Japan who has a very large and impressive collection.

The P1 is a fantastically engineered car and outside the Subaru community it's the one that everyone knows about. It has a level or perception in peoples minds that will ensure it commands good money from here
People just don't get it, good examples and celebration models are becoming desirable investments. They will always be Jap Crap but they are running out and to get one you have to pay the rarity tax. Find me another 4B V2 555 STi wagon with 46k miles from the 100 they made. Find me a grade 4B S202 with 50k miles from the 100 they made. Find me a V2 WRX with 33k miles. Plus I have all the documents from Japan and UK and spare parts and rare parts to keep them going indefinitely
The people that don't get it all sold their cars a few years ago for much less than they are worth now. I get the resentment as it smarts a bit paying more now for a car that's 9/10 in worse condition. But they are fast losing their council house touring car economic demographic and becoming much more of a enthusiasts keeper

A few years ago ? You mean 2 years or less years ago. Amazes me how folk that no longer have them, try talking the price down on here in the hope that they can get another cheap. Those days are gone

Desirable to YOU, not me. It's an overpriced type R. Why on Earth are people willing to pay silly prices for them?
Think about it, does it JUSTIFY its price compared to a type R, P1 etc? Yes it was produced in limited numbers, but is it a much better car than any other Impreza variant? I would say no. Whatever floats your boat(s) gents.

Drag coefficient, does it produce more downforce, superior build methods, superior/uprated suspension, superior in yaw, lower centre of gravity etc etc?
Why are they priced substantially higher than a type R, P1 or any other special/limited production model? The way some people harp on about the 22B, you'd think it was light years ahead of any other variant Subaru have produced. I just want to know WHY people think they're worth 100k+? I have nothing against people desiring to own one, just want to get to the bottom of why people think they're worth 5x more.

So you buy cars just to look at them then? Isn't driving the main point when it comes to buying these type of cars and what makes us car enthusiasts? If I was looking to buy something pretty to sit on my driveway/garage, a Subaru wouldn't even make it on the list. I can understand wealthy collectors buying specific cars and keeping them in storage as 9 times out of 10 they drive something exotic as their daily. If you're a collector, money is no object. You can buy anything you want no matter what the price is. For us mere mortals, money matters.
I'm a car enthusiast; I know the Impreza (not only the 22B) is an iconic car, hence why I bought my first one many years ago.
