Default 6 speed gearbox rebuild

I wondering if anyone can help me out, I've got a 6 speed jdm short ratio non dccd gearbox which I would like to get rebuilt with carbon syncros.

can someone tell me the best place to get it rebuilt and how much it would roughly cost?

Nik at Car&custom garage in Bristol have rebuilt my boxes with carbon syncros and full rebuild on my dccd 5 speed
Www.carandcustomgarage.co.uk

Price wise would depend on what's wrong with the box, if it's just the syncros or if you need more bits etc Nik can advise you on that if your interested

Have you spoken to Dean or Dan at Three Arches in Cardiff?

Why not get it cryogenic treated instead?

It's a jdm 6speed 4th exploded, there's was 0 teeth left on it they were everywhere! I think there was also damaged syncros, it was a right mess

wow , i thought they were bullet proof , are you running a lot of power or high mileage
or some thing else ? , did it quietly self destruct as i had once or a dwarf knocking two saucepans together as i had one too ? but my failures were non scooby

6speeds are certainly not bullet proof, I know quite a few people that have broken them. 4th is known to be week on the jdm 6speed. It may be 2nd or 3rd on a uk box but don't quote me on that.
It's a fairly low mileage box at 55k and the car isn't huge power, sub 500bhp.
But it does get used very hard as it's a sprint car.

My advice is use a suitable oil for what your doing with car. I've tried a couple of options since having mine fixed.
Me and Alyn at AS Performance were just the other day discussing using another alternative. Because AS stock so many transmission oil options, you can discuss the best option for your usage with Alyn. They also sell replacement 6speed components

i'm assuming not too much power over standard then they are pretty tough ? a sprint car must get abused a fair amount

I wouldn't say it gets abused, driven hard maybe, but the level of routine maintenance the car receives, far exceeds that of your average road car

Should be same on uk box then as only 5th and 6th are different ratios on each box

IT might be the hawk box then. Either way, there is a component that regularly fails in the Same fashion as jdm 6speed
