Default Insurance......

How many of you especially you lot with motors that's are modded to the moon and back truthfully declare their mods to the insurance company?

What companies are the best to go with when you have a car that's well modded?

Cheers

Considering the insurance companies trawl forums like this mate, I don't think anyone would be silly enough to own up and say that they haven't declared some of their mods on the internet....

But that being said. Sky insurance are good. I've used them for years. They're mod friendly too

that did cross my mind.

I was always under the illusion that the issue would become apparent after having an accident, "oh you're kicking about in a 2.1 stroker with a silly exhaust and about another 4 million mods.....bye bye"

to be honest it's always best to declare everything, if something happens and the insurance company decides not to cover, you can be done for fraud, get sued, points on your licence etc for next 5 years. Not worth it over a few extra quid.

As above declare absolutely everything. I've always been with sky insurance and my premium is very reasonable.

Yep, declare everything.

Im with Sky Insurance, they normally just put it on for free or just ask for a small one off payment if its anything major. Don't see why you wouldn't really with the risks.

Always have declared everything. Would rather not get done for fraud plus it means I can get everything replaced.

Anyone that doesn't declare everything is a ticking time bomb.

It sounds odd..... but sometimes it's cheaper to insure a modified car than a standard one

Hi,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

I'm with Greenlight insurance, all mods declared and the list is long. My policy covers me up to 350 bhp. After the next round of mods I'll have to notify them again.
I find them easy to deal with, they don't suck their teeth when I update the specs and they return my calls. Nice company to deal with

When I got my first quote from Sky they added wheels and exhaust "just in case I wanted to do them during the year" so I'm guessing some of it doesn't make any difference to the price. Shame I didn't, and still don't, have the money to make any changes!

Hi,

In my personal experience with being involved with over 350 car forums over the last 11 years, I believe most members don't really want idle chit chat from insurance companies. Most members probably don't approve that we're on these sites anyway.

I appreciate that not everyone likes insurance, and so we are always going to be on the back foot. In an ideal world if I would be able spend lots of time interacting with you guys on a social basis however it's a full time job involving my full working week, my evening and weekends dealing with all the sites we feature on.

Whilst I am very much a car enthusiast my primary concern is to assist members wherever possible and in most cases this does involves new quotations.

Obviously no one is under any obligations to try ourselves for insurance it's just we are here if needed.

Regards,
Dan
