For aesthetics?

Because otherwise you have exactly the same controls; just different (i.e. re. the fan speed, AC and inside/outside air).

I assume your style is what's fitted in non-JDM MY93-97 cars?

But...is it really 'worth' it?

Yeah I think it just looks better and imagined it wouldn't be too much work to replace, just a case of connecting the blocks in I imagine and also I can source one, so why not? Thanks for the help though mate I'm always greatful

In that case, by all means go for it.

Plenty of used control panels available.

While you're at it, why not get the white Lockwood fascia backplate. Coulped with the matching dash clocks ones, makes for a much more sporty interior. Lifts it.

I did it to my old 93 WRX. It also had the white-faced Lamco triple gauge set. Plus a white-faced boost gauge on the A-pillar.

Loved it.

Oh!! They look quality, how do I replace the white clock dials without removing the needles? I have had a bad experience in removing needles on my mates blob sti, he needed to replace the whole cluster because removing the needle ****ed the speedo motor thanks though I will deffo be purchasing

You HAVE to remove the needles, unfortunately.

I got API to fit mine - so not sure how fiddly, or otherwise, it is.

I'm guessing that if you use a pair of tweezers, they can be carefully extracted...?

Was I supposed to do some sort of delete?
I just don't switch my fans to blow in the middle

I'll have a look when I get chance to see what the crack is,if they need deleting then I'll just block em up

I wasn't too sure if it was cool to have hot air blowing onto the back of the gauges, I wasn't sure what the procedure was, if you did need to block them up or not cheers

I've replied to your PM AP3491.

As said, you just need a heater control panel from a JDM car... easy to swap it over, cables can be a little fiddley though.

Here's a picture of the pods I made....

No need to delete the blowers, never caused me any issues...

Like I said, if I get a bit of time I'll knock you one up.

Plasti dip stuff is actually quite good.... I took my AVCR apart and sprayed the casing with it... came out a treat...

For the first time on the site, i have been wronged!!
Jdm heater panel is completely electric and much easier to fit, UK works on cables to control speed, heat, position, etc

Thanks for your help though guys, if you was not to know then the obvious answer is yes it will be a straight swap, Cheers Aaron

The facelift controls (MY97-) are as you say cable operated.

The earlier UK cars have the three rotary controls with cables

Whether they are interchangeable is another matter.

1997 Euro spec

1996 Euro spec

Pre-facelift JDM heater controls are not completely electric, they use cables to adjust the temp and position of air.

I haven't replied to your PM regarding making you a gauge pod as been hectic lately.

The pre facelift JDM models have two options

Manual (with cables)

Auto (all electric)

Looking at this image, it looks as if you have the auto, all electric version with the square cutout for the sensor.
