Default Tyres..... talk to me....

In the near future I'll be getting some new wheels so will be needing some new rubber...

I've always used Toyo's in the past, be it the T1R or T1S, both very impressive.. I did try Eagle F1 once but hated them. I can get a set of T1R for around £300 and that's currently my first choice (sticking with what I know)

But im open to try something new so after some opinions.. value for money is always a bonus too...
Car is used in dry weather only by the way... and tyre size will be 215/ ?? - 18. (Not decided on a 35 or 40 profile yet )

What do you guys think ???

Cheers,
Matt

I still rate Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's highly as a road tyre.

I'm very tempted to try the Federal 595 RSR's though, they seem to get good reviews and are are well priced.

Vreddys but I don't know if they're made in your size or maybe something more track orientated if it's not a daily?

The federal there's only 1 known good one and that's the 595RSR. You can get the r or s but it has to be the Rsr.

Also there's Nanking ns2r They have 2 compounds in these and the 120 softer one didn't last very long, the 180 compound seems to last better.

Have you thought about the AD08R? good tyres all round imo.
There's a dude that sells them on fb, I payed £360 delivered for a set in 215/45/17 so good price considering their at least £100 each.

Or 888s but they maybe too much for road only car.

But for your usage and budget,
nankang NS-2R
Yoko's AD08R
Federal RSR
or even the toyo R1R seem to fair well for road car, they seem better in wet.

All above tyres have their drawbacks and characteristics, just depends on your choice on usage of car.

I currently run the Nankang NS-2R 120 great tyre for 6 mths of the year from Nov till May.

Then i swap over to Nankang AR-1 semi slick for the Summer months, £137 each for 225 40 18. Great grip and look really good aswell

T1R and T1S very old technology.

595RS-R hard to beat for the money. NS2-R also a good choice although wear quicker than the Federals.

Ah ok, I'm not sure what makes do what sizes but try sites like,
Openeo
Black circles
Earls motorsports
eBay
Etc.

But for best prices on ad08s you'll have to contact a guy on fb or member of a few sites (Ben patey) he gets these ad08s cheaper than anywhere I've seen.
I like the tyres, they have a firm sidewall, yet feel soft and sticky just by the feel compared to the ns2r I had.
RSR I've never tried them myself.

So is my car but that still works well

I've just always used Toyo's so kinda know what I'm getting with them.. I know they get some poor reviews but I've always loved them...
Maybe it's time I opened my eyes to these 'track day' tyres you all recommend

595 rsr are the hardest compound out of the "summer tyres". We found them to be lacking in the heat and under tough driving they melted quite early on.

I rate the 120 compound ns2r. Along with the ad08 and the r888r.

The ad08 are harder than the ns2r 120s and will last longer. But fared better than the 595. The r88r are king, but considerably more expensive than the ns2r. Which is why I choose the ns2r as you will not be driving close enough to the edge to notice the benefit of the 888

Helps you narrow it down, none are the best just personal preferences.

Recently got 4 Bridgestone potenza S001's , they have been very good in the dry and surprisingly good in the wet and greasy.

See I ran 18x8 225/40 Toyo T1R on my white car and that was fantastic. Swapped them to Eagle F1 and they were terrible so went back to Toyo.

I quite like the F1's but I also like MPS 4's. I had some Vred US but wear was really bad. Good grip but 9k miles on the rears wasn't good at all IMO (not on impreza). Plus the goodyears or Michelins where better and lasted longer.

I much preferred the firmer ride of 18's over 17's and contrary to others, I found the handling totally fine.
215/35/18 for the record.
