Unhappy Sold the Impreza this morning - Goodbye folks!

Just kidding, I'm going nowhere as I still have the FSTI to play with!

Just wasn't using the Impreza much now I have the forester. It was just gathering dust on my driveway and my local Subaru main dealer have always said they liked the car so much that they would buy it back from me when I wanted to sell it. I've owned the hawk since it was 1 year old with 9k miles on the clock and loved every minute of it. I've owned lots of cars and it has quite honestly been the best and most reliable car I've ever owned.

I'm going to miss the power delivery compared to the FSTI, but I'm sorting the forester out at the moment so hopefully can get as much enjoyment from that in the future.

Took plenty of upgrade bits off before it went in so expect some for sale threads to go up once I've repaid my subscription.

Goodbye Impreza. End of an era.

Still have my other toy though!

Never under stood owning a beetle.

Indeed they will. They sold it when new, they then sold it to me when it was 1 years old and they will now sell it (very modified) on for a 3rd time!

Great cars beetles when they are working. It's currently rust proofing the concrete garage floor with oil deposits waiting for better weather.

My mate had a Beetle, i don't understand the appeal myself, much prefer an 90's hot hatch.

Well at least you still have a Subaru badge on the drive.

I've had plenty of stupid fast classic minis in my time too as well as old beetles. Great fun! Gotta love a nice 80s hatch though. I'll agree with you there.

Wish i'd owned a Renault 5GT, didn't as everyone who had one told me not to as not reliable lol

So what attracts you to a beetle? Its opposite end from a Subaru?

Yep, I love the Renault 5GT now. I never got into those as I had too many mates who already had them (including one of the fastest in the UK, that was always being rebuilt). I ended up going down the jap route with massively fast pulsars, twin turbo RX7's etc instead after a succession of fast Rovers. lol.

The beetle is great, it's classic motoring at it's finest. It smells of hot engine, oil and petrol the whole time like old cars should and it has a certain pantomime to it. It's a running joke with my family and friends that I never know if I'm going to reach my destination in it! Every time I use it something breaks, stops working or falls off! The best recently was putting the handbrake on when parking on a slope only for the handbrake button to come flying out of the handle at great speed into the dash.

Everywhere you go in the beetle people look wave and smile. I get stopped by so many people wanting to talk to me about the car it's crazy. Occasionally some people handing me parts that have just fallen off too! hahaha. Am planning a daft 2.2 drag lump for it some day which should be fun.

Lol i know what your saying about the smell my Dad has a classic car and it always feels special when taking it out for a spin. Sometime you need to knock the fuel pump for it to start, and it has that classic car smell.

But i think its the beetle concept, never got it. I don't think there history helps. Whats the plans for the Forester then? Thought that would have been brutle as standard.

My FSTI still has the 2.5 STI engine!

I'll never get away from it, but at least I only have 1x poo.5 to worry about now rather than 2. haha.

Already spent close to £5k on the Forester since I bought it at the end of Feb. The car is nearly where I wanted it to be now. Only final set up on suspension left to do now. Before mapping it still needs fuel pump, prodrive sports cat downpipe, fuel pump, SWRD 3 port fitting and a few additional brake upgrades like stopper & braided lines I already have. Then I'll just enjoy it for a while until I get bored again!

If the engines lets go then Paul Finch will be building a better one for me!

Very few are 2.0 in reality, mostly for US market I believe so Don was saying. All JDM SG9 versions were 2.5 engine and all have AVCS like the Impreza. There are a few subtle differences with the engines and people don't seem to get the ringland failures on the FSTI's. Headgaskets still happen, but far less. That could just be because there are less about in general though. Who knows.

Only time will tell.

Does help that I quite literally gave it away IMO. But it was an easy sale and I'm not bothered. Onwards and upwards!

Got room on the drive for something else now!

Yep, you under sold your blob too mate. Was a lovely car that. You got over double what I did for mine today. That's the difference with a modified STI and a modified WRX though (regardless whether mine was massively over serviced and maintained or not). I was under no illusion what mine was worth, I loved it and enjoyed it and wasn't expecting the earth when it came to sell.

i doubt anybody with any sense would entertain selling a car on here, its full of idiots and know it alls and has a very narrow audience.

pistonheads is by far the best option

I got the full Parkers trade in price for the car for A1 condition (as expected). Realistically if you look at Parkers price guide then market for these is only £1k more than I got (for a standard car). Webuyanycar offered me £1.2k more, but I know there would have been haggling and reductions before a figure was agreed and it just wasn't worth the hassle.

All the jdm foresters are 2.0L APART from the FSTi.

The FSTi has inlet AVCS only, similar to the WRX (EJ255) on what the engine is based rather than the EJ257.

As also said there has been very few problems with those running reasonable power upgrades and minor mods.

This is one of my favourites, being a friend of the original owner. (NorthDownsScooby)

That's a very healthy power graph Don. No way that was the original VF41 surely?

carbon fibre discrete window lip spoiler
Whiteline 22mm adjustable ARB with bushes (New never unwrapped)
Whiteline uprated front ARB bushes (New never unwrapped)
CDF front and rear drop link kit (New still in box)
CDF 5 speed quick shift kit
genuine momo gear ****

2. Apexi AVC-R
3. Zero Sports Induction kit / Intake pipe
4. Zero sports high pressure rad cap (1.3)
5. Zero Sports Intercooler hose
6. RC Developments custom stainless steel exhaust system (cat back)

7. JGM Ecutek remap (1.25bar )

He also had Tein Super Wagon coilovers fitted with EDFC.

WOW. In which case that's quite incredible. The VF41 is smaller than the VF43 and VF48 units and I wouldn't expect it to perform as well as that.

Fingers crossed for mine then.

It most certainly is. My 06 WRX was making 334bhp but more importantly 381lb/ft of torque and was just so nice to drive.
