Need new turbo :(
Hi Guys
My MY06 WRX's TD04 has just failed on me and I'm desperately trying to find a replacement. I'm not chasing number's now I'm just after an uprated turbo that will spool quick and give good driveability.
Been told to look at a TD05-16g or equivalent, does anyone know of any for sale or where I can look as I've tried some places and had no luck.
Cheers

If you're not bothered about going far past 280hp (or 6,000rpm) stick to the TD04. I went from a TD04 to a used but very inexpensive TD05 and gained quite a significant amount of lag but more kick up the rev range, cars differ on spool up time even with the same turbo. The relatively cheap used VF35/36 might be a good compromise but will need a map.
It might be just my cars mods or increased induction noise masking sound but my TD04 seemed to produce a lot more turbo sound than my deathly quiet TD05.

I am getting my TD04 rebuilt with new seals and bearings and its going to be about the £250-300 mark but does come with a 2 year warranty. I looked at a second hand ones for about £150 but it didnt seem worth the risk blowing up my engine for sake of £100
