AREA 52 MOTORSPORT mapping
hi guys
I had my forester mapped (ECU TECK) by Scobby Clinic last month. mine had a TF035 andI wasnt really impressed with the output. so I changed it to a TD04L and rung them back to get quote for tweaking the map. i was quoted between £150-£500 + vat. yes, thats right. and that was after calling them constantly for 2 days and being promised call back. So all in all, customer service at Scooby Clinic....very poor...
spoke to a few other mappers and everyone says they will have to charge me for a full map as they did not do the original map. fair enough. but I dont want to pay full wack again, so I called around and AREA 52 said they will only charge me for a tweak and do dyno as well. very happy with their response so far. question is.....
anyone had remapping experience from them ? any thoughts?
cheers

Hi,
Not trying to start a storm however I am a long standing customer of Scooby clinic and they have always seen me right and been transparent about how they operate, As do Area 52.
But I do have to question a few thing? Scooby Clinic charge £150.00 to £350.00 If the ecu has a licence on it. Does yours have a license ?
A simple tweak that I have had done is £ 150 and a remap with an existing licence is £ 350 mapper time and dyno time ect.
With my limited knowledge (Not a Boffin) don't license's lock out so that only that mapper can talk to it?
Thanks

Sounds to me like the Clinic are just being honest as it really does depend on how long it takes re-dyno time, may well require a full mapping session in which case it will be £350 + £150 dyno time = up to £500+ vat.
Having spent money with both my personal choice is Pat and Scooby Clinic, but hey your money your choice.

I was always told that so long as you have the ECUTEK license which you do, then any ecutek mapper should be able to adjust for a basic cost (i.e. £150 or whatever a tweek costs) and the cost of dyno time.
I do appreciate however that a full change of turbo might result in a full new map being required. But I still would have said the above prices are a little steep if he already has the license?

Clinic have always bent over backwards to help me out, you sure you've not given them some verbal yourself?
Be honest, not having a dig by the way, but I know how things can sometimes get heated on both sides.

Got the call log on my fone mate. All i have said about them is on this forum. And no i didnt give him any verbal. Infact i even said is that a way for a professional to behave and he said he isn't a professional. I got nothing against them. I found them to be very helpful my self when i was there. Just not happy with what happened after. Very very surprised its turning out this way.
Are you serious ? I am sorry but a professional Garage call and verbally abuse a customer I highly doubt that.
There is not a bad bone in there body to do something like that. Are you sure it has not been miss interpreted ?

If you're making this up then you need a civil action initiating against you forthwith.

There's plenty to be won and lost. You made a very serious allegation above regarding a very well known company. It's vital (in my opinion) we know what the truth is. If whomever you spoke to was from the clinic and threatened you they need naming and shaming. Furthermore a statement from Adam and Kev needs to be made distancing themselves from such idiocy.
If you're making this up then you need a civil action initiating against you forthwith.

Well Said Sir.
Serious allegation against well know and well respected business men. Have you given any thought to what you accusations may have on them as a business? Or even the employees that work there????????

You said you've informed the police, what was their response and course of intended action?
I'm asking a lot of questions as I want to be clear on what has actually happened. In the same way that a such a reputable and well known company shouldn't act in the manner you've alleged, an individual cannot be allowed to make such a grave allegation without any substance.

Suffice to say you've emerged from this whole episode looking a total idiot and Scoobyclinic with their reputation and integrity intact. My own experience with Scoobyclinic has shown them to be professional and very customer orientated. They don't have the reputation they do without happy customers.

I follow Scoobyclinic's facebook page quite a bit as I find some of the posts they put up to be very interesting, especially those which detail jobs where they have ended up repairing work which has been botched at cost by other "specialists". After reading many posts on their facebook page, it is apparent that Scoobyclinic do appear to have some envious competition, where the likes of which will try anything to give the clinic a bad name and detract business from them. I always take my car to the clinic and whilst hectic schedules can sometimes mean they aren't able to give you all of their time, they will never compromise attention to detail where your car is concerned: they are extremely professional and their work is second to none. The guys at Scoobyclinic would never call to abuse you, I can only suggest it would be some other party out to tarnish the reputation of Scoobyclinic.
