I'm sure the cambelt kit is the best part of £400 on its own from them. Add to that a service and labour and i bet you wouldn't get much change from a grand.....

562 quid for everything is quote been given! After phoning around and getting other quotes RCM was a decent price.

Also it's in keeping with pervious history of the car as it's gone there for most of it's service history

So back to orginal question .... Anyone else booked in?

Hmm, I was deciding between Scoobyclinic or RCM for a cambelt change. I have considered Scoobyworld but their communication scares me. Belt is long overdue at 11 years!

£40 oil, £5 filter, £140 cambelt kit plus 2 hours labour @ £60/hour+ vat= £366.
Basically your paying for a stamp
Maybe price in coolant if they are doing it with the rad out (easiest way)

As with all Brands you are paying through the nose for a name.

True u do pay over odds, u pay over odds at any tuning company but rather have stamp and recipet from a respected subaru specialist than some back street cowboy garage.

i paid £100ish for tim farmer the subaru mobile mechanic to come to my house and do mine.

i bought the kit myself for around £170 ish but that included all idlers and tensioners.

as for the stamp etc, i have a written receipt from a well known and recommended ex zen mechanic so that is good enough for me and id imagine most subaru enthusisasts.

I use to use them in 2004 when i first purchased my Subaru, they are very good at what they do,but so are most of the other well known and respected Subaru specialist, try not to get to caught up on a name,i stopped going there when i found out i could purchase there parts cheaper from a third party then direct from themselves,go figure.SJ.

That seems cheap considering the cam belt kit is £400 on its own......

http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.u...productID=2571

Then you've got oil and filter to add plus their labour. You sure that quote is correct ???

thats was kind of my point matty is it the complete kit or just the belt as a lot of companies are vague as to what is being changed, then you get the call about oh the idler needs replacing thats another £100 ...

There are people in the middle you know! Or just do it yourself if your intelligent and have a garage and the tools, it's only nuts and bolts
