Default Homemade Splitter, Support Rods and Pics

I will be making my own sacrificial splitter (topgear style) and am struggling to find support rods for a decent price. APR long ones look pretty good but are expensive.

Any ideas where I can go to get them a bit cheaper?

Please post pics of your accomplishments too

I'll probably use some sailing bottle screws myself when I get around to doing this

Can you get them as adjustable as the APR rods?

I have seen spotlamp supports being used but the fixings come off at 90deg (flexable) which will mean I have to run a couple more brackets etc.
