Default Second engine rebuild!

Hello all
New to the forum. Recently took delivery of a 07 Hawk, complete with rebuilt and forged engine after head gasket failure at 52,000 miles. I bought it at 58,000 miles, complete with £10k receipts for the rebuild and some other mods done at the same time. All done by a reputable shop. Long story short, it was a botched build, so much so that it needs another full rebuild. Been quoted £5k - £7k but Im also considering replacing it with a used JDM engine. EBAY has plenty but I was wondering if anyone could recommended any specialists who can supply inspected / tested ones? All advice much appreciated

Personally i'd never get a second hand engine, they are just that. Sounds like you need to find a decent specialist to rebuild it properly.

If you have the receipt for the original build, can you not go back to the original builder?

The only person I would buy a second hand engine from is Matty Baker, you'll find his posts in the . I've bought lots of stuff from him over the years (including a complete 6 speed DCCD setup) and never had a single issue.

You'll find his posts here...

Thanks Tidgy, I have a good specialist lined up if I go down that route. I’m wary of second hand but thanks too Lewis for the link, I’ll check it out

Just back from the garage. Decided a full rebuild is the best option, I’m staying away from any used replacements. Block, crank shaft, heads, turbo all need replaced. They know AS performance well Scotty, so the block and other parts may well be coming from them.

Yeah scotty, think I recognise your car. Was it in at Duncan’s at the start of the year?
